The talent is there. There's no one coaching them.

If each player has the same terrible approach at the plate, isn't it likely that the terrible approach is what they're being taught to do? You don't get talented guys doing the same thing by chance.

That is now 18 straight losses to Coastal. At any other university in any sport, if you lose that many games to your arch rival, you are fired...gone. No Big South Championship this year; and no Regional again either. The flame train has run out of fuel, the wheels are falling off; and it's all the engineers(Toman) fault. Put your clipboard down, and put someone on the field that can play.

he may...just his timing rates slightly above a certain fellow who was run out of town for his dealings with another former coach at this institution (for the record I do NOT think they are the same person

Just compare the lineups last year to this year, Parm and Mrob were way better than Lacik and Paxton. Haley was a much better offensive player than Britt thought Britt's defense is better. Close and Sype are the 2 guys that have taken a nose dive this year. Anderaud is putting up the exact same numbers and Wimmer has improved big time. Cordell had two great weeks and has STUNK since then. So, maybe coaching is some i just don't think the bigger problem is lack of hitters. For all the talent on the staff we've got the hitters don't seem to be there.

I've heard the Seiz kid from Louisville would be one of the top hitters on the team if he were eligible this year.

Jinxy, quick correction on one thing. Britt is not even as close to the fielder Haley was. Much rougher glove and less range bc of less speed. Don't mistake an easier surface to play on as a better defender. Haley had 11 errors all year with more range and a tougher surface. Britt already has 6 on an easier surface and limited range.

Completely agree with your comments on Haley (one of my favorite players from the last couple of years) earlier but no reason to start hating on Britt. He has done a great job handling such a tough position as a freshman and while no Haley yet, he really deserves a lot of credit for stepping in where the expectation was a juco transfer would be starting.

No, no hating on Britt meant by any stretch of the imagination. It may have come across that way to make my point on Haley. Britt is going to be a very solid shortstop and an excellent left handed stick by his junior year. He has done an amazing job to step into the infield and lineup as a true freshman.....he will keep getting better and probably holding down the position for 4 years.

I disagree. Haley's bat is what we miss. I think Britt has the quickest transfer of anyone we've had including Matt Williams. Agree to disagree i suppose.

Transfer??? That's what you are judging a defensive shortstop on? In that case Haley wins hands down. He has the quickest double play turn and ball in glove to release time of any of the 3, even more so than Matty. Haley's glove as a second baseman is the one reason he even had possible interest from some pro organizations. His bat was extremely limited, but he was a grinder and over achieved from an offensive standpoint. I'm not saying he had a bad bat but got the most out of what he had

Drop another to Coastal, 8-6. this would have been a different ball game if we wouldn't have made errors on the double plays in the 1st and 2nd innings

slow turf is comp. the reason for it. Transfer is a huge part of being a good infielder. Let's get real most every SS at the D1 level can catch a groundball. What separates the average good and great is arm strength, range, and quick transfer (includes reflexes). It's ridiculous to argue such minutia but i believe Britt to have better range and quicker transfer. Haley had a better bat and arm strength but he was also older. I do agree that Britt is doing well for a freshman and will make a fine SS for us for years to come. We could have carried a weak bat at SS the last few years better than we can this year with other guys lagging. (I'm not saying Haley was a bad SS, he was very good for us, I'm just very impressed with Britt being as young as he is).

Perritt swinging a hot stick, think we need to find ways to get him on the field as he makes things happen both on the mound and in the field and at the plate.

Yet another loss to CCU, what does it take to beat those guys. You knew it was done when Connelly came in, that guy has been baffling us for years. He must be 35 years old now haha.
