Benson: Jerry, we'd love to offer LU a spot in the SBC
Jerry: Its not the ACC but thanks.
Benson: How quickly can we get it done?
Jerry: I got my peeps on speed dial and Skype and I can get you an answer inside of 48 hours
Benson: You have Skype?

47.5 hours later
Jerry: Benson ole boy
Benson: Jerry what's the word?
Jerry: All of my people are on board and we'd love to accept your invitation
Benson: Great. Lets get the paperwork done and make the announcement
Jerry: Sounds great, but we do have one request. Lets go ahead and knock this paperwork out of the way ASAP, ill send the Liberty Council folks to sign, but we have Commencement in a few weeks and would love to break the news then.
Benson: Well its sort of unorthodox
Jerry: I hear ya, but it would really maximize the impact. The important part is the paperwork, and we can get that done immediately. In fact, why don't you come on up and we can make the announcement together? It would be great exposure for you and our new league.

Simple as that, free of charge......from the Dark Side
:I chortle audibly.: That's what I was looking for. Love it.
My position always remained the same. I've always advocated a regional rivalry before a move. Apply St fits that bill. I would say GA Southern as well. And for these views I was cast to the Dark Side where I embraced the truth of its greatness. Pioneered the way for others to understand.

SoCon article mentions us ...
Observations about various schools that are in the SoCon, that are candidates for the SoCon, and a few that aren’t:
- Richmond spent $5.56 million on football, more than any Southern Conference school, and more than any FCS school on the list except James Madison ($6.6 million), Delaware ($5.6 million), and Liberty ($8.3 million). Old Dominion also spent more than Richmond, but ODU is transitioning to FBS. Richmond also spent $3.9 million on basketball.
- When it comes to total expenses, James Madison and Liberty probably wouldn’t have many issues in moving to FBS, as both schools compare favorably to most Sun Belt and MAC schools. Appalachian State is a little behind them, but not totally out of line (though I wonder about travel expenditures). Georgia Southern has a lot of work to do. A lot.

Ihope and pray thatODU is able to lobby CUSA into taking JMU or that UMASS and JMU are invited to the MAC.

Then the Sunbelt could take us, and hopefully JMU, ODU, and LU could schedule each other in nonconference games.

JMU will never schedule us again unless they HAVE to, like because of conference match ups

According to some reports Arkansas State has been talking to the MAC. What kind of loss would this be for the Sun Belt?
Our gain. Because that would call the SBC's bluff. If we are being used to pressure JMU and they don't take it, we can't really be used as credible leverage the next time

I wonder if all the sunbelt posters are watching the LU/UVA baseball game right now... I hope not, wouldn't want them to see all the fans, players, and coaches protesting playing us... :popcorn

In case anyone's interested and would like to pray for the Sunbelt presidents to look favorable upon LU, I have created the following list of their names. I'm not sure it is 100 percent accurate.

First, there is Gordon Molden...South Alabama's president. According to the web he had to take a leave of absence due to recovering from brain tumor surgery. We should pray for his recover regardless his position on us and Sunbelt expansion.

The other presidents are: Kenneth Peacock, Brooks Keal, Mark Becker, Denise Trauth, Duane Nellis, Manuel Pacheco, Joel Anderson, James Spaniola, Charles Welch, Daniel Weiss, Cameron Martindale.

I just pray that they would be open to voting to let LU in, and that it would be a good partnership.

I'd also pray for JMU president Jon Alger, Carr Sports Associates doing their survey, and the conf USA/MAC conference officials and even Umass. (I don't mind praying that JMU gets an open door to the MAC or CUSA if it opens a door for LU)
