At the end of the day, it doesnt matter how or why we end up in the Sun Belt or any conference, as long as an invite comes our way. I think that JLFJR has the ability to get word out to the Board and theyd have vehicles already set to pick them up at the airport and get them to LU quickly for the vote

I'm also not certain in the technology age that an in-person vote is necessary. Instead, I'm sure all board members have been provided with holographic transmitters.

Can we vote on a Sunday? On Easter Sunday?

I must say, this is the first time I've been truly excited about realignment. To be mentioned in article on ESPN concerning realignment, has to be great for us, even though JMU is also in there.

Also, despite what happens with this, Jr. and Barber have done an exceptional job putting Liberty into position to be attractive for this invite. I remember, not too long ago at all actually, watching Liberty play Western Carolina and maybe 5k were in attendance. To go from that to having a soon to be 25k seat stadium, average attendance hovering around 17k and a legitimate chance at being an FBS school, is quite remarkable. Many great universities will never be in this position and even if LU never receives an invite, I am thankful to just be in the conversation.

This thread has been highly entertaining. I'm in a win win situation. If we don't get in this board will melt down. If we do I get to head over to the sun belt boards and watch that Chernobyl meltdown. while i'd like to see the sun belt melt down more I'm still skeptical.

well its only a few like 4 or 5 that's been repetitive with the hate and spreading of lies. alot the them have been neutral on Liberty, some like you said are starting to defend LU.

but like jbock said, if Liberty is a leading candidate then they got the ok from the presidents. now it depends on JMU or if Benson/Sun Belt goes to 13 like he said they might do.

Liberty to the SBC would be the biggest meltdown in Sun Belf forum history. Forget Chernobyl, we're talking Krakatoa type destruction. I would love to see it, and I will certainly fan the flames. Burn baby burn.

Middle Tennessee State
North Texas
Old Dominion
Rice
Southern Mississippi
Texas-El Paso
Texas-San Antonio
Western Kentucky

MAC:
Akron
Ball State
Bowling Green
Buffalo
Central Michigan
Eastern Michigan
Kent State
Massachusetts (fb only)
Miami (OH)
Northern Illinois
Ohio
Toledo
Western Michigan

I can't keep up with it any more

CUSA is at 14 with the expected add of Western Kentucky this week. That puts CUSA at 14. Rice is being rumored to be a potential move from CUSA to the Big East leftovers. If that happens, Arkansas State or Louisiana seem to be the next to potentially leave the Sun Belt for CUSA. If Southern Miss leaves CUSA, South Alabama becomes an option for CUSA. Of course, there is always the unlikely long shot of Georgia State to CUSA for reasons of the Atlanta market. Arkansas State is also a potential addition to the MAC. The Sun Belt could add 1 or 2 teams in the coming week. If JMU & Liberty get added this week, the Sun Belt office is probably expecting another defection to take place soon.

There a lot of "potential"s in there.

Maybe JMU? The reason I ask, it looks like the norm might be 14? In that case the Sun Belt needs several more?

I'm hoping that the Sun Belt adds both Liberty & JMU. I believe Benson want to add as many eastern power schools with great growth potential as possible. Plus, both LU and JMU are regional rivals. Both schools will add to the Sun Belt's regional theme, if you will.

If not JMU probably to the MAC in their place. I wonder if JMU and LU could go as a pair. If not I think we get the next invite to the Sun Belt ....... But am still hoping for C-USA .... :I chortle audibly.: :I chortle audibly.:
I would think the MAC would be looking for someone else only if UMass stays. They're a 13 team conference at the moment. If UMass refuses to go all sports, then the MAC could let them take their football program elsewhere and be a 12 team conference. If UMass does go all sports then the MAC would be likely to go for another member.

Maybe it's the dark forces I'm in tune with, but I can't help but think that one of the points JMU is considering is 'How can we screw Liberty?' I'm sure it's not high on the list but its on the list

Correct. Seriously I think there's no way JMU really wants to join in with us. They've always viewed themselves as being far better than us. It's not like APP State who just wants schools closer by and doesn't really care (at least from what I perceive).

And stretch that moratorium to texts for me as a fly to Anchorage today and have minimal contact with this situation. But texts with updates would be appreciated for my brief layover which I would rather not use scrolling through dozens of pages of this thread and Twitter.

Step one begins at noon today, even though this is the official WKU announcement of their move to C-USA:

"The upcoming 2013-14 academic year will be WKU's last as a member of the Sun Belt Conference, which it joined prior to the 1982-83 academic year. Currently in its 31st year as a member of the conference, WKU has won the Vic Bubas Cup five times, which is given annually to the member institution gaining the most cumulative points awarded for athletic success in the league's 19 sponsored sports."
