the flames hit the road to the valley of the sun to take on the #12 wildcats friday and saturday and the #10 sun devils on sunday. the competition continues to get tougher, lets hope for a good roadtrip. the new rankings will be released on friday, so im sure there will be a shakeup.

Arizona falls to No. 10 Liberty in rough game

The No. 12 Arizona Icecats lost a hard-fought battle with No. 10 Liberty University 5-3 Saturday night at Tucson Convention Center.

The game was tied midway through the second period when Liberty scored three consecutive goals in just under three minutes.

Icecats goalie Luke Edwall was removed from the game and replaced by Nick Boddy. Edwall left having recorded seven saves on 11 shots. Boddy would finish with 15 saves on 16 shots while Liberty goalie Dalton Stoltz saved 43 of Arizona's 46 shots.

With under a minute remaining in the second period, Icecats defenseman Max Sliwinski netted a goal on a rebound to cut Liberty's lead to 4-2.

As time was winding down in the period, a fight erupted between the Icecats' Zach Stommen and Steve Jensen of the Flames.

Jensen received a two-game disqualification and was ejected along with two other Liberty skaters.
Stommen, and two other Icecats, John Hansen and Austin Capobianco, also were ejected.

A goal by the Icecats' Matt Conover 26 seconds into the third quarter cut Liberty's lead to 4-3.

Boddy, who had been flawless after entering the game midway through the second period, was called for interference with five minutes remaining, and Liberty scored its game-sealing fifth goal on an ensuing power play.

Dq's are not something that is up for debate. First DQ=1 game, Second DQ=2 games, Third DQ= Done for the year. ACHA rules

Steve got the extra game because of what happened during the fight he was in...it was an accident.... both players were swinging punches ....steve happened to hit the ref....thus resulting in an extra game....he did not get it for it being his second fight....(Steve was jumped ....but still managed to really pump the guy)
