haha Haize my good friend...you can always go root for Gardner-Webb or Presby, similar in values and beliefs and with no FBS aspirations. With us....Against us?

JMU didn't have any aspirations of moving up......
I've made my feelings clear on moving up, and if you had read them you would realize its not a for us/against us proposition. In fact, it could be well argued it was that type of mindset making the move more difficult.

To say JMU didn't have any aspirations to move up I think is a mistake. Sure, they weren't as public about it as we were, but I'm sure they've been building their program with a move-up in mind. Recent events just changed the time frame of their move-up.

And I think he was framing the "for us/against us" line towards the LU faithful and not necessarily those decision makers outside of LU. At least that's how I took it...

You forgot the mention...you know...the tremendous success at the FCS level and you know...a national championship. WAIT A SECOND!?!?! Georgia Southern and Appalachian State have some of those too! JMU, Appalachian State, and Ga Southern's move was catalyzed by success. Liberty is simply chasing a dream and not thinking about the big picture. Those three schools are looking for the next step, Liberty is trying to find an elevator.

And how many national championships did Georgia State, Old Dominion and Charlotte win?

I knew that was coming. They have zero. But they are three large, public, state institutions will fully accredited programs. Usually those are a lot more attractive than...well you get it.

@MatthewStoss: To update the Sun Belt situation: It doesn't seem like JMU would be into it. So far, the interest appears to be on the SBC's end.

Hopefully they are holding out for the MAC or Conf. USA.

Well, to be fair, all 3 are located in huge media markets: ODU is in Hampton Roads (1.7 million people), GA State is in Atlanta, Charlotte is in Charlotte.

Ask yourself this... why do the people (who are likely a vocal minority) on these Sun Belt message boards no want Liberty? Answer that, honestly, and you'll have your answer.

Well, they do have AACSB accreditation and Liberty doesn't, so there's that.

because they think liberty is intolerant aka liberty politics. like what every other liberty hater brings up?

i fail to see how that involves anything you mentioned.

as its been stated previous by others. if liberty quits with the politics and the republicisms. they wouldnt be having problems.

edit: sorry for any grammar errors i was on my phone

But then we would'nt be Liberty.
We are the school of BHAG's, and they eventually happen.
When I was in lynchburg, could I imagine what would happen to Liberty. No.
We will be FBS. Eventually.

Liberty doesn't have to quit their stances on these things. But perhaps we will never build that 29 story skyscraper unless we change our process

They were poached at a time when certain criteria was important to certain conferences when choosing certain schools.

That was the case with the ODU, GS, and UNCC. They were poached for their potential TV market and revenue streams, not because NC's and other post season hardware on their wall. THE SBC is looking for rivialries, quasi-geographical footprint, and other interests. Times are changing and it seems like Sly has said, realignment is a fluid situation. Lets hope that the interest in JMU is only one sided and only in SBC's interest. I hope that JMU doesn't take our place, we'll see.

Brent Thibodeaux ‏@BrentThibodeaux 1h
Benson said #AppState and #GeorgiaSouthern will enter the #SunBelt with some of the best facilities in the conference.
If only he'd come to LU and see ours...

Brent Thibodeaux ‏@BrentThibodeaux 1h
#SunBelt commissioner Karl Benson didn't want to address anything related to rumors of #WKU receiving an invite from #CUSA. Not a shock.

I know, I know ... they all embrace sex week and LU doesn't.
