I won't bash but to a certain degree, how many layups did he miss off that left wing where his output could of and should of been alot better.

How many wasted timeouts? How many dribble drives into double/triple teams? He had a good night shooting and a bad night running the offense.
Wasted time outs? If he's getting doubled and trapped somebody has to know to come bail him out! What else was he supposed to do?

Agreed. Stats don't tell the story. Especially with a player like him where the margin of error is so slim with him. He played MUCH better during the Tournament. He regressed tonite. I hope we see the Tournament JC next year.

And the kick out was there but I'm not going to bust on him for not kicking it out.

Edit: agree with Charles. You are 6 foot. Pull up at the FT line area and hit the jumper. He did play better during the BSC Tourney.
wasn't complaining, that call is never, ever called.

We didn't deserve to win

Not dribble into the corner? Sorta basketball 101 there. Very difficult for some one to come to him when there are few options once you get yourself trapped in the corner. Sort of why defenses do it. It's not like they passed it to him there. He dribbled there.

We were not the better team tonight but we fought hard and almost pulled it out. There was a talent gap at a few positions. If we can find some bench help and recruit some speed or another solid larger guard (6'3"-6'5") for a change of pace off the bench we will be in good shape for next year.

Not dribble into the same trap 10-12 times during the game, that's what he's supposed to do.

He had a good shooting night and a bad ball handling night. I would love to see a legit PG in the mix next year so that JCS can spend some time off the ball instead of having to having to be the primary ball handler.

I think we've got a 6'4" guard already committed. If he, and a PG who can play some legit minutes off the bench arrive next year, it would pretty much fill out the roster and give us a chance at the conference title again.

All very TRUE assessments of TONIGHTS game. If you don't think he had a bad night RUNNING the offense then I wonder if we watched the same game, too many ppl tonight were commenting the SAME comment about the SAME player in TONIGHTS game. That was a big factor as well as maybe having someone, anyone off the bench make more than a FT.

I mean I know you can't have a guy like JCS turning the ball over or taking the ball into corners with two men following him, but there were plenty of other players who made simple turnovers that were much more aggregious. Our big fellas need to be a little more consistent with their passes.

As a sidenote, it was fun to watch this team shoot from the perimeter. Both JCS and Marshall are solid shooters. It'd be nice to get a speedier PG to drive more for kick outs to those guys.

agreed. if this team can stay healthy all year, we should be right back here next year.

our best low post player was on the bench and will be back next year. That alone should at least make us feel better about next year. Next year will be the year we need to be consistent. It will be a senior heavy team and Dale Layer's senior heavy team at that. He did a great job with these guys this year. Next year will be a fun one

The word you are looking for is egregious. And, I don't recall anyone else consistently dribbling to the corner. Post player get a little slack if they make a bad pass because it isn't really their job.
He had a bad game. One more typical of his regular season, unfortunately, then his Tournament.

again the team is a pg and a couple 6'5-6'7 athletic players away from being really good.

losing speaks is going to hurt liberty more than getting burris back next year imo. LU is going to lose there best defender and attacker.

lastly JCS did as much as he could, i can't bash him. he ran up against a taller, more athletic players, which he struggled against. no he's not jesse but he's really the only player that can play pg on this team. him, marshall, and speaks are the only offense on this team that can create offense. i mean really him or taylor at pg?

We will when we have someone who can finish - Burrus.

I have more of an issue with JVP, Smith, Gielo, and Coronado all playing soft. Trav, JC, and Marshall were the only reason it was as close as it was. We need the big fellas to step up next year. Thankfully Burrus will be back.

Yes that was the word I was looking for... thanks for the assist. Still don't see how you can call 21 pts. and 9 assists a "bad game". We were in a position to win the game, thanks in part to his contribution.
