Hey we can offer the Sun Belt what Appy State and Georgia Southern can't...a multiple conference championship resume in almost all of our sports and the ability to move in 48 hours. Georgia Southern still has finances and TItle IX!!!!

It's really frustrating to read the vitriolic comments by those over there on the SBC boards. If we do make it into that conference I have a feeling we are going to be working on the 'self-control' portion of the fruits of the spirit... Not responding to their short-sighted comments will be difficult.

If you are alluding to my posts being void of logic, reason, and based on a lack of emotional self control, I must disagree. The very point of my being is to infuse good old fashioned commonsense into the deluge of bad information and illogical thought processes out there...of which the Sun Belt boards are a prime example. At the risk of sounding extremely arrogant, if the SBC schools are producing that level of critical thinking, we are already on a higher cognitive level here at Liberty, regardless of average freshmen SAT scores.

The Sun Belt guys really take the bait, don't they? Someone mentioned that our women's tennis team beat WKU yesterday and already there are 2 pages of responses. Looking through the results, it looks like golf beat WKU in February invite as well. Does anyone want to crunch some numbers here - Liberty vs. Sun Belt in head to head match ups over the past 2 years? Would be interesting to see how we stack up across all sports. My guess is that our Olympic sports move in there and dominate right away!!

Separating the men's and women's tennis coaching positions was an intergral part of that. Other than that, women's tennis has no bearing on realignment whatsoever.

Aside from the Fighting Irish taking an early out from the former Big East to join the ACC, I thought this tidbit on the naming of the remnant of the former Big East was interesting:

"Last week ESPN reported that America 12 Conference was a favorite for the league's new name and the conference's law firm had purchased several domain names with variations of America 12 in it. However, the league's presidents responded that they do not favor a name with a number in it and are asking its marketing group for a name that highlights the metro nature of the new schools in the league, a source said."

It's a smart move not to put a number in the name - I think a 10-team Big 12 and a 14-team Big 10 ( or is it B1G?) are silly - but what is a "metro nature"?
