Eagles is definitely generic. I just don't care for the Flames nickname. I can't tell you how many times I've told people the nickname and they've laughed and made some sort of gay reference to the nickname.

Personally, I'm not a fan of the new logo. That beig said, it'll most likely grow on me. I wonder why they decided to change it now and not "unveil" it to the public during the summer?

#1 I really like this logo. It's the best of the Flaming eagle and the LU monogram together.
#2 You guys would complain no matter what. Heck, you'd complain if we hung you with a new rope.
#3 Look up every other major college athletics logo in the country. 99.9999% of them are square for proper fit in Graphics for TV, Print, etc. This seems to me like a move to go to that standard and to not have a squished graphic when ESPN and others use it down the road.

PS: time to buy some new stuff, and keep wearing the tons of old stuff for a while.

A brand new logo and it is just quietly placed on the athletics website with no fanfare. Seems odd to me. Where is Proto on this one? Who is available to remake the monogram?

What is with the just putting it on the website and not saying anything? Did they think nobody would notice? What about every single thing on campus, fields, signs, walls, trash cans, benches, upperdeck seat covers etc. that all have the old logo? It's not like you can just paint over a steel trash can that has been CNCed with the old job on it.

I wonder if the old "Friday rollout" was sort of a soft open of sorts, or a trial balloon to gauge reaction? Without an official intro they can still make modifications.

I get the point of updating the eagle head... the whole "use LIBERTY, not L-U" thing has me a bit confused but again- the powers that be may have just changed their minds. Really hard to fight that one. People are gonna say what they say and trying to come up with any logo that will scale down while still spelling out the whole name must have been near impossible.

The font thing still confuses me the most. Just doesnt fit anything we have. Strange that we didnt go with the officially approved "LU" that we already have.

ok. apparently that "LU" is our official monogram? I had no idea, at least not until I went to the branding guide (Which has apparently been updated recently)
