I am pretty sure that's the plan. I don't see any reason why Charlotte would keep the bobcats when the Hornets name has returned to the free market.

Pelicans are my favorite bird. Period. I love the obvious choice.

As for the Hornets, if sending the name back to Charlotte would provide any assistance to that horrible franchise then by all means send it back.

Obviously a name change doesn't help the on court product, but taking the Hornets name back would do wonders for the franchise fan wise. The Bobcats have never taken off like the Hornets did in the state and the name change would bring back the fans tht were alienated by he original move to NOLA

If you guys like the Hornets so much at least keep the Bobcat color scheme and leave the homo purple and teal in NO.

Not thrilled with the Pelicans name - although the name fits well with the ridiculous wingspan of Anthony Davis! - but the logo is pretty sweet. Can't wait to see the physical mascot. I might have to switch my second favorite NBA team to the Pelicans and drop the Bobcats/Future Hornets if it's an awesome mascot. I particularly like the circular secondary logo that says "Crescent City Basketball", has a bit of an old school feel to it in it's simplicity.

Jim Kelly certainly wore Gamblers gear quite well here in Houston. I would have been down with a Cajun or Creole angle. Since the city's original name is oddly in use in Salt Lake City of all places, I believe pelicans is a great regional name. Sure it is a bit self-deprecating since it is not exactly a true bird of prey. But it is certainly lovable.

I remember being at WJPR Fox 21 when the Hornets started up and we were one of the 5 or 6 stations on their original television network. When they unveiled the teal-colored and pinstriped uniforms designed by Alexander Julian we were laughed so hard in the station that tears were shed. I can't imagine pining away for the glory days of Rex Chapman & Kelly Tripucka. But I see nostalgia remains alive in the Carolinas.

I hate that logo because I feel its too close to the Sonics. With them coming back, I think nola needs to ditch that.
