I'm straying from the topic a bit, but the article raised another question for me: is this carrying?

He is a similar player to his brother who is averaging 20 ppg in the NBA. I think almost everything you wrote there is ridiculous. He may not be a good defender, but to say he's probably the worst defensive player that has played at Liberty since 1980 is ignorant.
Curry worst defender in Liberty program since probably Karl Hess, as someone once told me, 'we tried to hide Hess on the defensive end' ---
Curry was held scoreless in the 2nd half of Big South semi final game (his last Big South game BTW) vs the supposedly bad defensive team of VMI... Way to step up Curry.
Now Curry looks great being a 5th year senior at Duke, cause Duke has no lottery picks this year, (bad recruiting by K and weak 2012 class look at UNC/Ky freshman for proof) except Plumlee but he isn't a guard like Rivers or Irving...
But IMO when the going gets tough later in the year, Curry true colors will show and he'll choke....maybe he'll prove me wrong but hasn't so far when tournament time comes around..
Sorry off topic, but I can't wait to Curry is sitting in D league or Europe next year and I don't have to read about or hear about him.... Way over rated!!!

Bigsouthking wrote:Reason Curry didn't play much or do much scoring(look at Michigan St box score 2 years ago Curry played 2 minutes) until this year cause Duke had Irving and Curry........He averaged 9 points in 25 minutes his first year at Duke. He averaged 13 points in 30 minutes his second year at Duke. This year he's averaging 16 points in 30 minutes. I wouldn't say he didn't play much or do much scoring those first 2 years. Also, not to nitpick, but Curry played 7 minutes vs. Michigan State. You seem to be really reaching to make the guy look bad.

Duke lottery picks last 2 years = Austin Rivers and Kyrie Irving....in 1999 they had about 5 Elton Brand and his teammates....

He still was a crappy teammate and if you ask any of those LU guys they would honestly admit it...
You average fans see scoring and think that's everything in hoops, there is so much more to it than that fellas....

Think about how we would give our firstborn to have the decade that Winthrop had. And they won, one tournament game. Almost won 2. They were never a household name and at this point are no better off than the rest of us. In some cases, these final 4 runs were lightning in a bottle. I'm not saying these programs were awful and got hot one year. In fact they all seem to have been consistently decent to good. I mean heck, VCU and GMU both were not even supposed to be in the tournament in their respective FF runs.This.
Basically what I'm getting at is that even if you have your pick of sure fire great coaches, and we pour and pour money in, it STILL has to be the perfect storm to get your program into that situation.

On a serious note, this off season should be interesting. You can't stay where your at unless the whole program wants to follow Assinesi to DIII. 339 out of 347. Florida Gulf Coast and Kennasaw State are ahead of us??? Atlantic Sun have any openings???
I hate you Merry Christmas :D  May[…]
