I am still new to all this, moving my loyalties from LSU to Liberty, and I caught the highlights of this game.........the attendance was reprehensible. I think I counted 120 people during the highlight reel. I saw more people watching a pickup game near central park. I am assuming the men's team has been bad for years.

Cajun, the official attendance was listed at 1,335, and quite frankly I was surprised that we even had that many LU fans in the Vines Center for two reasons:
(1) the students and faculty/staff are on Christmas Break;
(2) Virginia Tech was playing in a televised bowl game from 5:30-8:30.

3) We were playing a school nobody ever heard of.

Even during our best years in the 90s we struggled to get any kind of a crowd over Christmas break.
Do you believe there were actually that many there Cider? I would say highly doubtful.

Olldflame, there were quite a few fans on the Baptist side, which is where I sit, so I think 1,335 is probably accurate.

Math Question
What was bothering me during the game, though, was trying to double check the math of this golf putting game they do during a time out. First they putt from half court to one of the free throw lines for a free sandwich; then for $50, they putt from free throw line to free throw line which they say is "56 feet". But if a basketball court is 94 feet long, and you subtract 30 feet for the two 15-foot free throw lines, wouldn't that be a 64-foot putt between the two free throw lines?

Thanks for the info. The camera was shot on one side I guess. It was def not on the side with a large number of spectators. Very good points about christmas break and the bowl season. I still believe 1335 is pretty low.

.
4) Just about every local high school was playing in a Christmas tourney in Roanoke or Charlottesville
5) We may have put a lot of our other resources in the LU Online Holiday Tournament at William Campbell High School.
6) Wrenn Magnum was at The Spring House

Do you try to discredit anyone who questions what is unfolding before our fewer and fewer eyes? Obviously few on ff care about common sense program building. Maybe the BSC will prove to be less competitive like it is in FB.

Keep in mind that there is a 4' area of court from each baseline to each backboard- that's why you're off by 8 feet in total distance..

But from end line to end line it's 94'. I think it's more accurate to assume an error by the announcer

Purple, I know that's a lot of math for a WVU guy, but I think both kingaling and the announcer are correct, if you do the addition and subtraction = 56 feet from charity stripe to charity stripe:

94 feet (from end line to end line) minus 19 feet (15 + 4) minus 19 feet (15 + 4) = 56 feet

Considering you have an old 3 point line.......
I keep forgetting that the FT line isn't measured from the end line. I put that under the category 'It Doesn't Affect Me" :D

Obviously you are very selective in what posts you read and in your loose interpretation of what people are saying. Nobody is happy with this program right now.

On a related note attendance has historically been awful during Christmas break. I am not saying attendance hasn't been horrible this year but lets not try to lump Christmas break games into the debate. Attendance will get better when we win, that is how it works with schools at our level. It is comical that people think that anything other than winning effects attendance at our level.

The blindfolded guy ramming the table with his forehead was awesome. I'm glad he got the $50 to cover the doctor and counselor:)
