Don't make BJ get out his yardstick!

Math Question
What was bothering me during the game, though, was trying to double check the math of this golf putting game they do during a time out. First they putt from half court to one of the free throw lines for a free sandwich; then for $50, they putt from free throw line to free throw line which they say is "56 feet". But if a basketball court is 94 feet long, and you subtract 30 feet for the two 15-foot free throw lines, wouldn't that be a 64-foot putt between the two free throw lines?

Keep in mind that there is a 4' area of court from each baseline to each backboard- that's why you're off by 8 feet in total distance..

Cider Jim wrote:Purple, I know that's a lot of math for a WVU guy, but I think both kingaling and the announcer are correct, if you do the addition and subtraction = 56 feet from charity stripe to charity stripe:Considering you have an old 3 point line.......
94 feet (from end line to end line) minus 19 feet (15 + 4) minus 19 feet (15 + 4) = 56 feet

Nobody is happy with this program right now.
