Parker: "Is he a brother, or is he a cornball brother?"

Moderator: "What does that mean?"

Parker: "He's not down with the cause, He's not really black..."

Moderator: "Well, why is that your question?"

Parker: "Well because that's just how I... I wanna find out about him... I don't know because, because I keep hearing all these things. We all know he has a white fiance. There was all this talk about he's a Republican... "

strikes me as some of the most racist comments I've ever heard on national tv but no one will call it that.

would LOVE to know the rest of Steven A Smith's comment after that break...

"First of all, I'm uncomfortable with where we just went..." that had the potential to be REALLY good

My reaction is I thought the same thing about Rob Parker before his comments on RG3. I initially thought Rob Parker was a "cornball brother". However, after I kept seeing him on ESPN's First Take, I found acceptance to his personality and to him as an individual. I think he should've kept to the 'If you do not have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all' motto.

Yeah - I like Stephen A. But Parker... I mean come on. They threw a fit over Rush Limbaugh and what he said wasn't near as bad as what Parker just spewed. It should be noted to that RGIII apparently is a God fearing man too. When asked by a local reporter if he feared anything, he stated he didn't fear much about football but he did fear God.

Here is what RG3 said about those who try to put him in a bubble.
“I am an African-American in America. That will never change. But I don’t have to be defined by that…We always try to find similarities in life, no matter what it is so they’re going to try to put you in a box with other African-American quarterbacks – Vick, Newton, Randall Cunningham, Warren Moon…That’s the goal. Just to go out and not try to prove anybody wrong but just let your talents speak for themselves.”

I can say I haven't watched much of ESPN's commentary shows. When they first started down this road I knew I didn't like Skip Bayless or Stephen A Smith. The majority of these people are clueless and just looking for headlines. I do like the Radio side of things a bit but the TV personalities make me long for the days of Australian Rules football.

Everything I watch from the "worldwide leader" during the day comes from the radio side. Mike and Mike, Cowherd and SVP/Rusillo may not be everyone's cup of tea, but they have legitimate commentary and make an effort to entertain. First Take is unwatchable. They have made Smith and Bayless into characators of themselves and every topic is a staged confrontation.

Basically what Rob Parker is saying is "You know all those stereotypes you have about black people? Well, they're right. All of them. And that's how you should define us."

If a white commentator said the same thing about a black player having a white fiance, he would be labeled a racist and fired. Why does this guy still have his job? Oh that is right, I see the color of his skin, he can say anything about a black person.

This is a completely racist comment and its sad that because you are educated and not a democrat you are no longer considered to be black...pretty sad actually.. Fran Fraschilla tweeted, " I like Rob Parker a lot but if RGIII is a "cornball brother," we need more of them. Used to call guys like him "role models!" Couldnt be said any better...this is one of the main problems with the black culture..if you arent acting like a rapper and a democrat then you are an uncle tom..

So what? He's black. Therefore he's allowed to say on national TV that another black person is an uncle tom. At least that's what political correctness teaches us.

And remember, I'm somehow the racist for pointing it out.

RG3 has done everything to show he's a decent honest man. I don't care that he's black, but then again the race hustlers do.

He should be fired. But considering Jemile Hill still has a job, that won't be happening. That's the whole point of the First Take show.

Parker has been suspended. We'll see if ESPN has the pelotas to fire him.

I'm just glad Parker is getting so much heat. It seems finally people aren't going to take this kind of racebaiting anymore.

Stephen A. Smith is actually a free thinking man. I'm not saying I like him, but what he believes is what he believes in his heart.

Parker gets 30 days.

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutd ... --nfl.html
Yahoo!sports wrote:ESPN’s Rob Parker suspended just 30 days for offensive comments about Robert Griffin III

The network has issued a statement in which it announced that Parker will be suspended 30 days. He will then, presumably, return to television duty...

...What was ESPN reviewing? As it turns out, the network had more of a problem with the fact that the show slipped up in its alleged editorial policy. In the official announcement of Parker's suspension, Marcia Keegan, the vice president of production for ESPN who oversees "First Take," said far more about the show's mechanism than about the weight of Parker's comments.
