Roberts, Donley, Sanders, Marshall, Larry, Layer.... How many suburban white jump shooters is LU going to have on it's roster?

What is this, glorified Intramurals?

Hey guys, here is a crazy idea, when an AAU coach comes on our board (at a Christian school no less) to talk about his kid coming here, we should probably NOT rip him or the kid. Developing relationships with high school coaches is recruiting 101 and we may want another one of his kids in the future.

The intelligence level of this board is astounding at times.

You realize that AAU coaches will go anywhere to hype any of their players, right? Most high school coaches will as well. They think it makes them look good when one of their players signs somewhere.

Your arrogance and nievety are not surprising

It's a good feeling as a high school coach when you help your kids get DI scholarships. I see nothing wrong with a coach sticking up for his kids or pumping them up. Arrogance? Tell me who the arrogant ones are when fans of an 0-7 basketball team tear down a coach and his recruit after they show up on our board?

Naive? Arrogant? Tell me Haize, how is this so?

Logic --
Maybe the AAU coach should be asking what most of the thread is thinking 'why does LU need another shooter when their roster is full of them' -- doesn't sound like AAU coach has a lot of experience of getting his player scholarships. In other words, whose Ryan going to play in front of?

We have idiotic comments about coaches and recruits on this board and you're defending them - how welcoming! Come to Liberty, where you'll get torn apart on the message board before you even step on campus. Bravo! Overhyped or not, that coach will think twice about recommending Liberty to his next blue chip prospect. I don't care who the coach or the recruit is, you NEVER put them down publicly on a message board because you NEVER know who will have the next big prospect. I would assume that is, or should be, fan etiquette 101.

Don't be part of the problem Haize, be the solution.

Roster is full of them is it now? Should I really respond to that?

Are we sure this kid is a 'Blue Chip' recruit?
If he goes D1 anywhere, fans will be tough on him. Have you seen any other message boards?

You have to be pretty nieve to believe everything an AAU coach has to say about a player. That's not ripping him, that's just experience. If his coach says he lacks quickness that should be a red flag for a D1 program. I'm all for coaching a player up, and apparently his ball handling is an area that can be done. Because with an already admitted quickness deficit ball handling takes on an even bigger premium.

Or at least that's what I've read in books. Ill put the theory to test when I start my Upward Dynasty!

you also have to be pretty naive to think anyone gives 2 kraps what a bunch of 40 yr old losers post on some stupid message board at midnight.

And yes that is a direct quote from my wife. but she's correct.

At least you spelled it right, which is more than PinkSmoke can say. The absolute bottom line is that you don't get high school coaches on your bad side, ever. Again that is bottom line 101 recruiting knowledge. I would think this coach would care. That's one coach with a not so positive view of Liberty fans. That list can add up over time.

But hey, you guys are the "experts" here right?

We see where those so called Blue Chip recruits are... Casey Roberts a walk - on the Flames in scoring last game and is 3rd on the team at 8ppg. Good for him though!

Recruiting 101 - Never insult a high school coach when they visit your board. It is really that simple. You want them to think and say nothing but good things about your school and your message board. You NEVER know what kind of talent this coach might come across and you want LIBERTY to be the first school on his mind when that happens.

I re read the thread. No one ripped the coach. There is some skepticism that no one had heard of him, even in his own area, the fact that he is a home school kid and the fact that his AAU coach comes and songs his praises. Good for the coach, but you take that with a grain of salt. Good for the player, but nothing has really come to light to alleviate some of the concerns.
That's far from insulting either a kid or a player.

For the record, Kemrite is a well-known commodity here in Houston both from AAU ball & SATCH playing tons of games against 5A schools. Jim Hicks at RCS Sports has him as a Top-15 player in the city. Generally the top 30 on his list all get DI offers unless grades stand in the way.

Yes.

Finally his coach says -
GCBC 2013 wrote:Yea the music I put on the highlight tape was not the most appropriate, but what does that have to do with the kids talent. You haven't found a lot about him online due to the fact that he is homeschooled and in the class of 2013. No one is saying he is the best player in the world but the kid can play. He is ranked in the top 30 by RCs sports a Houston based site. You can rip him all you want but liberty coaches saw him play over 10 times this summer so they saw the diamond in him.

So straight from his coach - "rip him" etc and so forth. If this board is ripping this coach's kid...how likely will he be to recommend us in the future? Some of you are incredible really, even ToC had the decency to apologize for some of the comments on here.

I was going by your earlier posts of never seeing the kid play. I don't think it's a reach to be skeptical of a 6'3" white, homeschool kid with quickness issues nor insulting.

Perception is reality Haize. Coach thinks the board is ripping his kid. Cannot backtrack our way out. Glorified intramurals and so forth.

First sentence is true. Not directed specifically at this coach.
Ditto 2nd sentence
Last sentence optimistic but realistic at the end. It's a highlight video that can and are produced for any player at any level.
If this post is found insulting by any coach or player, well they might be a bit too sensitive to play at the D1 level.

regardless of what you think of a coach pumping up his players to get them a scholarship - I mean how dare they try to help their players get a free education! - it is completely asinine to go around more or less anonymously insulting them. How you treat the coach can be the difference in your team getting a good player and him going elsewhere.
