Guess the ACC wanted to add an SEC state to their offering! At least it makes more sense than UConn as far as athletics ability goes given UConn being a subpar football school, not that Louisville is anything special though.

What this has done though is prove that the ACC doesn't care about academics anymore. Louisville one of the worst academic schools in all of the BCS conferences. I'm sure they will keep on bragging about academics when everyone knows they just admitted a below average academic school. I can't wait to see what schools the Big Ten poaches now after this, all the other ACC schools should be insulted by the admission of such a poor academic school like Louisville.

I just love how a bunch of these schools in this realignment mess keep saying they are doing all of this for the well being of their student athletes. I couldn't get better comedy if I watched comedy central

US News has Louisville ranked at #160 which is not on par with the traditional ACC level academically. It's just funny that a Kentucky fan is pointing this out when their #125 ranking isn't exactly impressive.

I only speak the truth on Louisville's academics. 160th in the US News rankings. NC State was previously the lowest ranked ACC school at 106, everyone else in the top 100, including seven in the top 50.

Last time I checked: 125 > 160. And 160 is barely on par even with the SEC. Mississippi State ranks 160, everyone else better from what I can see.

Sporting News is apparently reporting that SEC is going after UNC and Duke now. I can't find the article, but several media members have tweeted about it.

[EDIT]Here is the article, but it's mostly about the impending Maryland vs. ACC lawsuit and the ramifications when Maryland likely pays well less than their $50 million exit fee. http://aol.sportingnews.com/ncaa-footba ... ten-pac-12

Duke and UNC joining the SEC doesn't make sense for them, in my opinion, if they base their decision any at all on academics. Big Ten would be a much wiser move if academics plays any role. NC State and VA Tech going to the SEC makes much more sense all the way around - academically, athletically, and geographically.

I've always felt that Liberty needed at least 2 Sun Belt eastern teams to leave in order to get a Sun Belt invite. With Middle Tennessee leaving and possibly FAU, Liberty might be movin' on up like the Jeffersons by this weekend. :P

My point was that they were both mediocre schools. Sure, Kentucky might be better, but is that saying much?

Excellent point. As most around here know, I'm a Tar Heel fan first and foremost. I've heard the arguments against being a fan of an institution I didn't attend. I was not convinced.

They rank 200 schools in the national university rankings. 35 spots is a 17.8% higher ranking. That's significant. Does that make Kentucky a Big Ten or typical ACC school? No, but in my world, anytime you increase something by 17.5%, that is generally considered significant.

Why would a "fan" of a school's athletic teams get into an argument about academic rankings? Who cares? Now alumni, I get that, but fans?

Seems like that may be a little quick, but we can dream. I think it's pretty close to 50% chance that it happens by the beginning of football season next year.

CUSA could add FAU this week. That would be two defections from the Sun Belt this week. Sun Belt went from 12 to 10 in the offseason and this would drop them to 8. I like the idea of an FCS 4-pack to the Sun Belt: Appalachian State, Georgia Southern, James Madison & Liberty.

I disagree, I think it happens in next few months if not weeks. I hope I'm wrong and it is days or hours!!

Haize - Unfortunately all those rankings I posted were typed. Sad, I know.

All of this news is very exciting to state the obvious. My top choices -

1. CUSA
2. CUSA
3. CUSA
4. Big East
5. MAC
6. Sun Belt

Why -

CUSA - At this point you have to think it becomes stronger than the Big East, and on the east coast at least, the strongest non BCS conference. National appeal with regional travel partners.

Big East - Less travel than the MAC

MAC - Less travel than the Sun Belt

Sun Belt - From lowest FCS conference to lowest FBS conference...I know we need an invite, any invite, but it would be nice to NOT be at the bottom of the non-BCS FBS schools (the new FCS) if we have the option.
