The Wizards set basketball back 10 years every time they take the court. They should be shooting at a peach basket before the New Year.

Jeremy Lin will never be an elite PG in this league. It just isn't going to happen.

That is not to say he won't be a solid player and provide a team with something decent at the pg position, but I don't think anybody the follows the NBA closely thought that his short stretch of games last year in which he performed at an amazing level had much staying power. I like the guy, but there was no way he was ever going to live up the kind of hype he had in New York and really that is all this writer was saying.

Michael Jordan couldn't live up to that hype. But that doesn't mean he deserves the hate from some corners.

Where was there hate? They simply said New York is better off without him this year. They couldn't afford another year waiting for a guy to develop.

Houston is the perfect situation for a guy like Lin

Even Jordan at his zenith never had the type of hype that Lin had for that stretch. For those of us who followed the Jordan era from end to end, the Linsanity hype was at a different level.

But at least Lin is a better person!

That goes without saying. Not that I ever would compare the two as athletes because that would be redonkulous.

Regardless I don't get why anybody could disagree that Lin playing in Houston is best for both him AND the Knicks. That is really all the article was saying

Apparently David Stern is going to levy significant sanctions on the Spurs for resting key rotation players who are playing in their 6th road game in eight days. Meanwhile, teams blatantly tank games to get a better draft pick and nothing happens. There is not one single rule being broken here. This is a disgusting and disturbing precedent David Stern is setting. Stern absolutely abusing his powers. I guarantee it wouldn't be an issue if the game wasn't on TNT tonight!

but the Spurs are still up by 4, if they end up winning it would make it even more comical.

Seriously though does Stern feel like he has to go out with a bang or something?

I don't see how Stern can get away with fining/sanctioning a team that pushes the defending champions to the final seconds. What's more embarrassing is the fact the Heat had four days off while San Antonio gets stuck with 6 road games in 8 days.

And 8 games in 12 days for San Antonio. Miami has only played 3 or 4 games total in the last 12 days!

And just a year Ago, Deputy Commissioner Adam Silver said:
"The strategic resting of particular players on particular nights is within the discretion of the teams," said Silver "And Gregg Popovich in particular is probably the last coach that I would second guess."

At least we know that the commissioner is on the same page as the guy who will be replacing him next season.

And here is once against another excellent article by Adrian Wojnarowski from Yahoo Sports. This time on the NBA's war against the Spurs. I for one did not know about several of the things mentioned in here that the NBA has done to disparage the Spurs organization. It should be required reading for anyone siding with the NBA and saying Popovich was just sending a big FU to the NBA. Seems like sending a big FU would be warranted even though I know that's not why he did it...
http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nba--david ... 28970.html

*For reference, I very rarely side with David Stern or the NBA on anything even the least bit controversial.

And the Spurs get fined $250k. David Stern claims the Spurs didn't tell anyone early enough they were going to do it. I guess he ignored when Popovich said BEFORE THE SEASON STARTED that he was going to do this. When was he supposed to say it, during last year's playoffs?
