He isn't going anywhere this year but 3 or 4 years from now if he has Liberty making noise again then don't be surprised. He never said this is where God wants him for life or anything close to that like another former Liberty coach. Liberty is a stepping stone school, its how it is for schools like us. We aren't so special to be immune to that.

I agree completely. I think it'd be naive to think that a coach with the name recognition of Gill will stay at LU long term if we stay in our same position, unless we show him the money and get ourselves into a better position for success (i.e. FBS) then he'll take the first good job out of town. We can't expect a coach at his level to stay in FCS for long. I'd love nothing more than for him to stay here long term, but the realities of CFB tell me otherwise. He won't go somewhere like WMU, but say a Louisville, Kentucky, USF (just examples) or any other second or first tier college football program comes calling, he'll be gone.

He won't be leaving in this offseason for a MAC school. Turner Gill may be using Liberty as a stepping stone or even an intermittent gig, but I can see him as a potential long term fixture. If he experiences success on the field and enjoys recruiting Liberty players, he may choose to make Lynchburg his home.
