Maryland and Rutgers are in negotiations with the Big 10 conference. If this happens the ACC will most likely invite UConn to join to fill the void of Maryland. This leaves holes in the big east who will likely invite some teams out west and possibly some more teams from conference USA, etc. Where does everyone see Liberty in all of this? I'm not really familiar with what other FCS teams are trying to make the jump.

Don't let the razzing bother you. They are referring to this thread. Head to the last couple of pages for the latest info. Or you could settle in for the entire Thanksgiving break and read it post by post.

If I were John Swofford (ACC Commissioner), I'd be pursuing Vanderbilt. They're a much better fit with the ACC in Basketball and Academics and would be much more competitive in Football. It would take quite a bit persuasion to get them out of the SEC, but Vanderbilt would have won the ACC coastal this year and been a top three team in the Atlantic. I don't think Vanderbilt is a likely ACC add, but I didn't think Notre Dame coming to the ACC without football was likely. There's also a chance that Notre Dame comes to the ACC as a full member after its current TV contract runs out, but I don't think Notre Dame joins a conference until they see a 1 or 2 loss Conference Champion go to the 4 team playoff over a 1 or 2 loss Notre Dame team.

Notre Dame is relevant again and in the mix for a national title. They may lose their #1 ranking, but their television viewership is back. If they leave football independence, it will be kicking and screaming.
