Does anybody know why/how Dominique Jones, now with the Indianapolis Colts, left Liberty for Shepherd College?

I never met him, but GMd the indoor Reading Express the season before he arrived in Reading. It's great that he cracked the big time.

My best guess is he saw his best chance at getting to the next level was not being a backup again (he would have been Tommy Shaver's backup in 2010 after backing up Will Quarles in 2009) so he transferred down so he could play immediately.

He graduated from here and had used up all of his Division I eligibility. Because of the difference in rules, he was able to gain another year by dropping to Division II.

Flames Nation recently had a chance to catch up with Dominique Jones - http://www.luflamesnation.blogspot.com/ ... oster.html
Former Liberty Tight End Dominique Jones is one of four Flames actively on a NFL roster. Jones was recently signed to the Miami Dolphins practice squad. He joins Rashad Jennings (Jaguars), Mike Brown (Jaguars), and Chris Summers (Vikings) as other former Flames making a name for themselves in the NFL.

That was a very good story. I hope this guy makes it. Seems like a great example of not giving up on your dream. I thought it was pretty funny that he found out that he made the Colts based on seeing his name on their website roster. Hope his exit with them was a little more personal.
