The only thing he would give us is the fact the team wouldn't of had to learn a new philosophy. That gives us maybe 1 more win...maybe. Rocco put all of his eggs into last season and STILL couldn't get it done.
I am so thankful for what Rocco did for this program but come on...
Rocco has stepped into a Richmond team that the previous coach had driven off a cliff, 3-8 last season after 3 straight 11 plus wins and a national title preceding him, and already has that team at 5-3. Rocco had some obvious flaws, but he's proving at his second straight job that he immediately improves teams that have bad coaches. Yes, this team would be doing better this year under Rocco.
Gill should get 3 years to see what he can do, but the start looks a lot like 5 of his first 6 years as a head coach and that's awful.
Richmond still had talent though, they have more talent right now then Liberty does. You have to look at the whole picture here. Rocco left this program better then when he found it, but he didn't set things up very well for anybody to do well here this year including himself.
I realize its easy to get stuck in the moment and get overly emotional about things, and who knows Turner Gill may not pan out, but we have to give him some time.
Don't mistake my lack of criticism for a lack of frustration with the coaching staff. I am pretty sure I am frustrated with them for the same things everybody else is. I just am not going to take that frustration and jump to conclusions on them this early in their tenure.
