If the team is virtually entirely all of the head coach's players and the team sucks, then the coach isn't getting the job done. We're not talking about some school that was a flash in the pan for one year, it's Auburn. He's had just one season in six years where he has finished top four in the conference (was 4th in the SEC division, but that wouldn't be top 4 overall).

Make all the excuses you want, he hires the coaches, he recruits the players, it's his fault.

My only point is that you can't give Chizik all the blame. Let some of these recruiting classes come in before you start pointing fingers at Chizik.

He was awful at his previous job as well. Chizik definitely deserves the blame.

Start again with Iowa State. 3 bowls in 5 year prior to Chizik, 5-19 under Chizik, looking like a 3rd bowl in 4 years after Chizik.

Auburn is 17-15 in games without Cam Newton under Chizik. There's no excuse, other than probation, for Auburn to be that bad. Tommy Tuberville was nowhere near that bad, with two losing seasons sandwiched around 8 winning seasons (5-3 in bowls), and he got the ax.

The reason I think they may stick with Chizik, but demand new coordinators, is the effect of Gus Malzahn leaving. Paired with Malzahn they were 8-5, 14-0, 8-5, but with him gone they're off to a 1-5 start. It wouldn't surprise me if a booster or three forced a new OC on Chizik after this season if they keep him around.
