Are the more "libertarian" members of the administration investigating new streams of income? :)

hahaha...actually a student got with a young lady thought we would do well to have homegrown vegetables, so she made a few emails, drafted a proposal with a young lady who is now the Campus Garden Manager, gave a presentation to the chancellor and after he gave it a rousing endorsement, planning began.

this would be something that would be fantastic to incorporate into some kind of outreach program.

maybe grow food to assist with stocking local food banks or homeless shelters?

agree with ROGERS- great idea- and I'm no hippie.

This is a place that really needs to look for active partners. They can't seem to move forward fast enough, but the facility has tns of potential. I talked to them about partnering with the college I work for but they gave me a pretty cool reception. Basically 2 acres under self regulating glass greenhouses; they say that they could grow year round, and the facility used to do just that when it was owned by a company that grew and distributed roses.

Initially itll be for LU , but I believe there is a hope once it gets rolling to be able to use it for the community at large (which may explain the cool reception you got rogers). Right now they are getting the greenhouses up so they can start getting seeds planted and seedlings established before the spring planting season when the garden would really get going.

I do agree that getting involved with local foodbanks and shelters would be a perfect thing to do with this after the first couple planting cycles

Id give this a chance. ALUmnus raised a great point when he said that this could be used to benefit the entire area once it gets going. There was a position created for it, and you have Dining Services as well as approval from the administration. The young lady who will be in charge said that they hope to add more plots down the road but its about getting this first area off of Sunnymeade established.

I was tasked to write a story about it and she was my point of contact for working on the story. It's been delayed because weather has hampered getting the greenhouses built so the story is on hold right now.

re: WEBCAMS

since it has become the reason I get up in the mornings... could someone please attend to Cam1 (Jerry Falwell Library NORTH view) as it is stuck on whatever day was bright and sunny. Looks like @ noon.

Also: Cam 6 (Baseball Stadium) is now pointing skyward- possibly tracking satellites or Haley's Comet?

thx in advance for your attention to this 8)

PS: while you're at it have some freshman clean the lenses at least once a week. Cool? Thx.

There is an unconfirmed report that the camera being 'disabled' ties in with Awkward Couples of Liberty. Susan Rice will hold a briefing shortly

Shew, reading your description made me rather nervous about where you were taking us with that link :D

EDIT: Man, that site is REALLY REALLY bad. Yes, we do have something similar to that...but IT will be releasing something else that should be pretty good for interactive maps. I'd honestly be embarrassed if this held the Liberty wordmark...its really that bad, but if I judged it by the article then I'd think it was made by Google.
