A friend posted this, as a public post, on Google+ today:
It's well known the upper crusters at Google are far left wingers, give lots of money to Obama and the left etc.. Every time I log into Google + lately I'm bombarded by pro Obama things from people who are in my circles. I actually opened an issue on this.
This caused me to respond to one of those pro-left wing things with something that attempted to take the air out of it, and didn't inflate the right either. I've copy-pasted below and expanded on it.
In US things I've paid attention - very close attention. I've learned the left vs. right war is mostly a decoy, a supporter for either side is a supporter for the side we really should be against. They attack us on every emotional, religious, and yes even rational level save one - the rational level where you dig deeper and look at the root, "neither side" wants that.
Andrew Jackson was right.
The banks are the enemy. Even the 99%er thing was pro bank, they just didn't realize it. It was pro bank because they asked for more government involvement, which is exactly what they wanted. I need a better way to explain it because the problem is so deep most people don't know it exist. Most Americans treat our elections like NFL Sunday, they're either rooting for the Dallas Cowboys or the San Francisco 49er's and they see the enemy as the other team. What they don't realize is the NFL itself is the enemy and by supporting either team you're helping. Of course the NFL I'm referring to is the FED, they own both teams and by polarizing people around both parties in power the always win. The 99% thing - the more something is regulated by the government the more they have the government in their clutches.
Most of the left right name calling FUELS THE FIRE. No - it doesn't help your side, it's a war drum that draws people to your side AND it draws people to oppose you. What you don't realize is your very polarization adds power to the battery that turns the machine of the real power that owns both parties, the shady underbelly both have in common. The FED. Look at both Obama and Romney's biggest contributors - it's the same people.
STOP PLAYING THEIR GAME.
This goes beyond voting third party. It's a good place to start, but it's not the solution. We need to change our attitudes about government. This polarization is an amplification of minor disagreements we all have at some core level and it makes epic battles of things that should just be occasional grumble or hurt feelings.
Stop trying to get the government to enforce your opinions. Try to convince your fellow man to follow you, don't try to get the government power to do it. It gives power to them, if you succeed in giving them the power to enforce your opinion they have power to do such things, you may not agree with the next opinion they begin enforcing. Not only does the government acting on your behalf reduce overall freedom, it costs money, which engages the FED, which feeds power to that non-government entity which is slowly increasing its scope.
One of the epic left vs. right things is dragging religion into it. Stop it. Religion can be your personal motivation for a lot of things, that's totally cool, stop trying to use the government to push your religious views or hold back the views of others. Don't use Jesus to justify social programs. Jesus instructed people to help those around them not to hire the government to shake everyone else down and do it for you. Jesus reformed more than one tax collector in the tales of the Bible. HELP PEOPLE YOURSELF. If you do it because Jesus said, then by God you're doing what Jesus said. If you're doing it because you think you should help your fellow man but you're not religious then Hallelujah stand side by side with that religious guy, agree to disagree on that matter and serve up a cauldron of Beanie Weenies together! You don't have to have the government do it for you. See the person holding up the sign on the side of the road that says will work for food? Park at the Jack in the Box on the corner, wave them in, buy them a burger and ask what skills the person has. Get a feel for them, are they really down on their luck? Do you know someone with a job for them? Or are they just a scammer? I have done this, there's usually some farm labor to go around locally. I don't give them money.
But the helping your fellow man thing I just mentioned is for anonymous strangers. There's a way to keep those poor anonymous strangers from forming - take care of the people around you, those close to you.
Ubuntu - learn the concept (not the OS, but that's a good thing too). The actual meaning/translation of Ubuntu isn't fully agreed upon. What it roughly means is by making the world a better place for others it makes it a better place for yourself. That's right. Be selfish. Help your neighbor fix that car so to keep it from being a neighborhood eyesore. Clean up that mess you're tired of looking at.
The right wing does not have a war on women.
The left wing is not intentionally trying to bankrupt us.
Both parties are fueling the money crisis they're just fighting over who gets control of it while Goldman Sachs laughs the whole time.
Both the current and previous presidents proved they will kill people in other countries to maintain a strong upper hand. They're both war mongers.
Stop rooting for your team and look at the root of the problem.
We're going to hell in a hand basket and everyone thinks the way to fix it is to go faster.
