These replacement refs don't even know the NFL rulebook. It's ridiculous how many incorrect penalty calls have been made. It's far worse than it's ever been.

I don't blame the officials at all. These are very good officials. They are just calling a different game. Not to brag, but its true, I'm a very good HS and Coloege official. You watch one of those games and you'd agree. (Blwall is pretty good too). However, if you put me on an NBA age, while I'd do we'll, I wouldn't do nearly as well. I would get a lot of the calls right, but I would call too tight or too loose. Illegal D, fouls under 2 min, spot throw ins would all be different then I'm used too, and I'd make mistakes.
I blame the NFL. They have put these guys in a position to fail. Ii don't know why they don't use the official on the sideline as a consultant and mic up the lead official. That way, when they throw a flag they can have a dialogue with the 'consultant official' while they huddle and get the correct yardage for the penalty etc. This would give the game more fluidity etc.
Just my thoughts. GO SEAHAWKS!

I changed my mind. I hope the officials stay on strike all season. I have the rest of my life to watch well officiated football. I may never experience this hilarity again. enjoy it while you can. Do you realize we will be able to talk about this season for the rest of our lives. Hey remember the replacement refs? yeah remember that one guy threw his hat and the dude slipped on it!!??? *high fives*

i can't wait for the playoffs. as a bills fan i don't have much to cheer for season after season. so i have to find little things to keep my interest. i have it this year. its just too amazing.

yeah you really can't use the "the other refs make mistakes too." the mistakes made are blatant. and it really isn't the refs fault. they are hs refs blah blah blah. but look. they signed up for this. so you've got to take the bs with it.

of course the magnifying glasses power will double each week and the scrutinization will get stronger and stronger. the nfl needs to fix this but i hope they don't

Now we have a statement from the Lingerie Football League confirming that there are currently a few referees doing NFL games that were fired for incompetence by the LFL. That's right, the NFL is using refs fired by the Lingerie Football League because they weren't good enough for that level.

I'm not watching another second of the NFL until real officials are back on the field. Clearly the NFL just doesn't give a crap about the integrity of the game, only thing that will matter to them is people not watching and people not attending games, the things that hit them in the wallet.

I've got plenty DVDs to watch that I haven't even taken the plastic off or not even viewed once, hundreds of hours as a matter of fact. It can last me all season.

I can't count on the replacement refs to do anything but screw up all the time and make the games unenjoyable to watch. I can count on my DVDs to not screw up all the time and be enjoyable to watch.

this is pretty dumb. the football is like watching prison football. its great. totally missing out on wonderful entertainment. but i'm sure they'll notice the spike in viewership and rush the officials back on to field.

What also will happen is that as these officials get more games under their belt they will become accustomed to the speed and rule changes of the NFL game. Which in turn will make these officials actually better. In the medium and long game, advantage NFL. Spike in viewership in the short term, advantage NFL.

i disagree. if it was div I refs. maybe. hs refs aren't going to get better over a handful of 10-12 games. they certainly haven't been getting better over 3 weeks. such an enormous jump. not that they wouldn't get a little better but they are already saying that the the refs are missing 4or 5x more calls than original refs.

Well 'They' are always right aren't 'They'? These are D2 and D3 refs, with a smattering of Lingerie League thrown in. Not all of the officials will improve, that's the law of averages, nut a significant number will.

In that Seattle game, I thought the whole thing basically came down to one guy misinterpreting the motion of another guy. There were two refs on top of that play. When it happened, they both looked at each other, not really wanting to make a call. The one ref (who made the correct call) started putting his hands in the air to signal the interception. The second ref (petrified of making the call himself), looked at the first ref and thought he was signaling touchdown, so he himself signaled touchdown. Oops. And by then it was too late to take it back.

They really should have confirred with each other before making the call, they would have gotten it right.

Let's throw in the part where the ref who was going to make the right call worked Big 12 games in the past and the one who made the wrong call was the least experienced on the crew. It just further proves how these awful officiating crews are thrown together. There's not even a slight hint that things are getting better with them and a pile of evidence that they're getting worse.

Most of these refs aren't current D2 or D3 refs. There are more HS and Pee Wee league refs or fired refs in there than there are current D2 or D3 refs. Most college refs aren't going to be able to work the games since they will have just called a college game the day before.

It's been preseason + three regular season weeks now and they are only getting worse. The whole notion that they will get better with more work is as legitimate as the win the Seahawks got Monday night.

If you think watching a prisoner get bent over and screwed in a shower is entertaining, then yes I will agree with you that it's entertaining .

why do you think all these shows with train wreck b list celebrities exist? why do you think enormous whale ladies with their stupid looking children are splattered across tlc. why do you think A&E shows people smoking meth out of the many cat corpses they found in their hovel. people love a good trainwreck.
