I was impressed with Woodrum in the Montana game, and believe Hudson played very well against Wake and Norfolk State.

Woodrum 38-52, 345 yards, 2 TD/1 INT
Hudson 32-59, 407 yards, 3 TD/1 INT

Who gets the ball against Lehigh? Who should get the ball against Lehigh?

From Lang's wrap up on Sunday:
Brian Hudson couldn’t play due to an injured leg, and Woodrum made the most of his opportunity. “When you play a whole ball game, you definitely get a chance to evaluate him, and in a great way,” Liberty coach Turner Gill said. “You got a chance to see how he played when things were going well and when they weren’t going well, and when things weren’t going well, how he’d respond. It was good to see him overcome the mistakes he made and then see him execute some of the plays he made later on. “We’ll evaluate and make a decision next week on who our starter is.” Asked if the starting job was again up for grabs, Gill responded, “oh yeah.”
Before Saturday, Coach Gill said Hudson wouldn't lose his starting job due to an injury. After the game he had changed his tune quite a bit. To me that says Woodrum probably earned another start.

I thought his passes were more accurate than what we had seen so far from Hudson. He also did a better job throwing it downfield and handled pressure very well. I think he deserves it.

As i said in another thread. If its close go with a potential 4 year starter. Woodrum has way more upside in my opinion than hudson

This board is so.....fickle. Look I thought Woodrum did very well, but you can't just throw away what Hudson has done either. Josh did look much more poised in the pocket than he did in his 2 series at Wake. It is, as the coaches said initially, very close. I will say that Woodrum has to get better at going through his reads and not telegraphing the first read by staring at the WR.

To add molasses to the cause:
Some coaches believe that if you are a starter, you should not lose your job because of an injury. Once you are healthy, you go right back to starting. The thought is it will help a player not come back too early and risk further injury. Further rationale being that the back up couldn't be the starter when both were healthy, so what they do replacing the starter is irrelevant.
Other coaches feel that if you are replacing someone who is injured it is your chance to show what you can do. Your chance to prove to the coaching staff they made a mistake.

This is such a unique situation, though ... Let's be honest, Woodrum really didn't get a fair shake in that Wake Forest game. Two series deep in his own territory with penalties killing him. Hudson moved the ball that night. He stayed in. It was the right call. Even after that game, Gill said that Hudson was the starter -- for now.

Saturday was such a better sample size of what Woodrum can do. As they were in camp, they're neck and neck, even if Hudson is healthy. Both have moved the offense well at times. Both have thrown crippling interceptions that led to opposing touchdowns. If Hudson was a clear-cut No. 1, it would be an easier decision. But he wasn't. It'll be interesting to see what Turner goes with this week.
