Athletics could be more with different leadership.
logic, you poor soul. This is a lost cause. He has a personal vendetta against JB. That's all there is too it plain and simple. What would be interesting would be to see which AD we have had hedid like. But since I don't really care much about his opinion it would be a waste of time
sorry you mistake a personal vendetta for evaluating the flaws of his leadership in advancing the programs. I believe it will continue to be clearer to those who understand what could be and what we are settling for in light of the commitment JLFjr has given athletics.[/b]
No offense, but from your statement it is apparent that you don't understand what Dr. Falwell's vision for the university is/was. Your understanding of it is much too narrow for what he spoke of through his actions and his words. From the beginning he vocalized a 5 point vision, which specifically named Athletics. The 'vision' you wrote about, was only a part of that 5 point vision. Also, to insinuate that Jerry Jr. has committed too much to Athletics is silly. Sure, he's given them more than they've ever had, but that is only due to the fact that we have more than we have ever had and this period of prosperity for the university happens to coincide with a period of volatility in collegiate athletics, which affords us the opportunity to pursue one part of the vision we have not achieved yet - to compete at the highest level of athletics possible against schools like Notre Dame and BYU. Finally, if you look at the majority of spending in capital projects around campus, you'll notice that the commitment to Academics/Students (i.e. the Library, School of Engineering, School of Music, new Circle Dorms, School of Medicine/Health Sciences, green space, etc.) is pretty strong.
I don't know if you've seen it, but there is a recording of Dr. Falwell's vision of LU that he spoke of in a Convo way back when. I couldn't find it, but perhaps someone else could. In the meantime, you can watch this short clip. Notice the emphasis placed on Athletics...
