michaeleyou wrote:I am some bit amused by this thread. Before the first snap, some of you said we were going to beat everyone out there. We played to a very respectable 3 point loss at Wake. And lost a close one at home to Norfolk State by a TD. And now I read things like "we suck", and see score predictions of a major blow out to Montana. Wow!

We were in BOTH ballgames and could have won them both. I'll never understand the "glass is half empty" mentality that some folks always seem to have. I remain proud of this teams efforts and still believe this will be a succesful season.

GO FLAMES!!
Kudos M-you! I'm with you. We'd outplayed a Wake team the just defeated NC State this past weekend. We were flat (execution and play calling) against the #24 FCS team and still fought back had a chance to tie the game in regulation. What we need to see is play calling that b.e.l.i.e.v.e.s. we can win and our guys demonstrating their ability to finish on the field...and this is as good a game as any to start finishing!

Go Flames!!!

My prediction: this game is decided in the 4th Quarter, and win or lose everyone picks us to beat Lehigh.

The emotional swings on this board remind me of a girl PMSing.

Do you disagree we will beat Lehigh?

I don't understand your question? Do I think we will beat Lehigh? I really don't know. I haven't looked that far ahead. It should be a very close, good game decided in the 4th Quarter, much like our last 2 games, and this game against Montana.

I'm just looking at this game and some of these score predictions are ridiculous.

49-14
35-10
34-10
46-28
41-13

I mean really? We didn't lose that bad to WVU or NC State or anybody else since Elon in 2007. If we lose that bad I will own up and say I was stupid. But I'm sure it will be the other way around. Although most of these posters won't "own up" they will just come up with some lame excuse.

And with the emotional swings on this board, a close game against Montana, and everyone will be saying "we're worldbeaters, we won't lose again this season."

From Nick Pierce on the Twitter:
Montana coach Mick Delaney on Liberty: "I think we match up with this team very well, our defense vs. their offense."
Not used to a coach trash talking an opponet. They ususally build them up. Hmm. Another interesting quote:
Coach Delaney on Kevin Fogg: "The number one thing there is kick the darn thing through the endzone so you don't have to worry about it."

I fear we don't have the same team that kept up with NC State or WVU, and currently we have a number out injured. I'm not convinced we will fare as well as we did against Norfolk. I do believe this will be a "building year."

That's fine, everyone's entitled to their own opinion. Even though I strongly disagree.

I agree with you. I'm not sure why it matters what he said. Besides your coach is an idiot who clearly knows nothing about our school. :D

 That "idiots" team is VERY well coached, and will play there butts off for him. That "idiot" came out of retirement to make sure this team stayed focused, and to make sure that they don't skip a beat in terms of their-field performance after the most tumultuous off-season one could imagine. That "idiot" has coached at UM for 6 years I believe, and they have missed the playoffs just once during that span, and that was 2010 when we had just begun to implement our new offensive and defensive schemes under our last coach who was recently fired because of all the off-field crap. That "idiot" coaches a program who has been to the playoffs 18 of the last 19 seasons. You don't accomplish such things with an "idiot" for a coach. Carry on.
