Wake Forest 35
Liberty 24

LU Passing Yards 145

I think we hang with them for 2 1/2 quarters but a couple key stops for the Demon Deacon defense put this one in the loss column for the boys from Lynchburg

I could live with that, WF has been a rocky team for a few years, since their BCS birth in 2006. I do think we have the team and staff to beat them though. They've pulled off great upsets (FSU last year) but struggle against teams like (gulp) Duke consistently. I think if we keep it close leading into the 3rd and 4th quarter, we may be able to pull off an upset.

I had the same thought. With that said:

Liberty - 9
Wake Forest - 19

118 yards

I think Liberty gets blanked. 37-0.

Too many question marks on offense, the starting RB is out and if the defense has to stay in most of the game, they're going to be tired pretty quickly.

Sorry to bring the rain cloud in.

My mistake. Sticking with it, though.

The Wake Forest defense is going to be above average in the ACC. I doubt that Wake will shut out Liberty when it's all said and done, but I do think the Flames could struggle to score on the first-team defense, especially with two different QB's and a bunch of question marks on offense.

I think that Wake Forest will struggle a little bit initially on offense (our offensive line is featuring four players that have never started a game at OL in college), but will then turn it up in the second and third quarter.

I'm thinking a 31-7 scoreline would be about right. Maybe I am underestimating the defense that y'all are bringing to the table though.

I think Wake could score 30+, but most of those points will come off turnovers and special teams. I bet they only drive the field on our defense 50+ yards once or twice.

I need to re-read my posts before posting. By "score" I mean on offense. if we start coughing the ball up over and over all bets are off and they score 50+.

I agree except I doubt they score 28 on our defense w/o the help of TOs.

Wake 45
Liberty 3

Liberty passing yards will be: 143

Our defense is talented, but it's going through a scheme change and gave up 27 or more to 5 FCS opponents last year, in a system they knew, and Gill's KU defenses were atrocious (11 games of 40+ points against in 24). With all the change, and a WF team that only needs to establish a running game to have a good offense this year, we'll be lucky to keep this close for very long. Our best chance to score may be the return game.

The decision on AA's suspension was made weeks ago. It is likely the depth chart at RB for Week 1 was made this way with that in mind.

It pains me to say this. I'd love to be wrong. My wife, my son and I will be there doing what we can do to cheer on the Flames.

Many of you are picking a bigger spread than West Virginia and NC State games? We have made it a habit in the past 4 years to play this opening FBS game very tough. Did anyone predict a 13 point spread against WV and 22 at NC State?

Guys....its Wake Forest, weren't they 6-7 last year? C'Mon man... They don't win by more than 20 points.

In each of those games we had a veteran/senior quarterback.

I agree that our D is going to be outstanding but poor field position and 3 and outs by the offense is going to take it's toll. I expect both of those to happen with both QBs afraid to make mistakes and no Aldrekis.
