When we are invited to the Sun Belt, MAC, etc. It may be a little wait, but we will count our blessings we are not apart of that train wreck. I am dissapointed we will have to wait, but we will get an invite.

But what about all the people who said this would be a good move because we would be FBS and then could move to Independent :dontgetit Or to another Conference? Or who said ANY FBS invite would be better then nothing?

What is worse, the WAC train wreck or the little South train wreck unfolding in slow motion before our very eyes without Stony Brook? Would a Sun Belt or MAC invite not come easier from a decimated WAC vs. a decimated Big South?

Big South, if those are the only two options. Without SB we have a great path into the playoffs. This would establish a culture of winning and show that we can be consistently competitive. Although going the WAC route would have been very Exodusy, which fits our mission statement :D

So what actually happens to a conference that just evaporates? Do they give out all the good stuff. To who ever they choose? Is it like when your dad gets tired of playing monopoly so he hands out his money an properties to whom ever he chooses? Does anyone here know? Could some random group of schools apply for the franchise rights and call themselves the WAC?LOL

I would have been elated if the WAC-E had worked out. I hate the fact that we are still fcs. I just know that Barber will come through for us and we will be in a much bettterpksition than had the wac worked. I would have loved to be on a conference with GA Southern because of its proximity to disgusta, but also the high number of southern alumni I work with. But you never know there is alot still to happen.

UPDATE (6:43 p.m. ET): Apparently, the Denver Post jumped the gun here. According to Brian Murphy of the Idaho Statesman, Hurd said he was only talking about the 2013 season and that the push to bring football back in 2014 is still alive.

WOW, Thats crazy. Completly changes the entire article. I think the Denver Post needs to hire Chris Lang; because clearly they arent able to report a story properly.

Big South football is 1 team away from NOT having an auto-bid to the playoffs. Very easy to see someone jumping ship. Then we're stuck here with virtually NO chance to make the playoffs?! Yep, the WAC-E <<< Big South

I'm kinda tired of talking about the WAC because it's such a long shot but if we were to somehow wind up in it, we wouldn't be stuck in it. In fact, I bet we wouldn't be in it for very long at all. Many here acts like it's some kind of FBS death sentence. It would actually be just a bit of an FBS transition.

I disagree, but it's not worth arguing over anymore. I just agree to disagree.

Any FBS>>>any FCS

It is way past the the point, since all the conference upheaval and team shuffling began, that beggars can't be choosers. It appears to me as if any of the remaining FCS programs that really want to go FBS but can't find a home best take the first ticket out -- be it a WAC-E-2014 or whatever comes along. The problem is, of course, that nothing has come along. Maybe CUSA expands further at some point, maybe that triggers something in the Sun Belt, maybe something else happens to start another wave. But maybe not, and maybe not for a long time. I wonder if there might not be a ticket out for some schools without some major changes in the current structure.
