I'll admit that, but I would stick up for my school whether its Liberty or ODU or VT or Hampton or Texas Tech or Oklahoma. Anyway, I am looking forward to the people that will be speaking this year (and hopefully will get to meet a few)

I'd love to see Liberty bring in people like Piper, Keller, Mohler (I don't remember him being a convo speaker), Matt Chandler, etc. MacArthur was a solid start, but it would be nice if a Reformed believer who isn't a Dispensationalist was brought in.
Alright, I can see where you're coming from.

go on....:dontgetit is it the annual Obama is finally coming to speak rumor? i still think Ryan is going to come.

and to be fair on Driscoll the controversy came from out side of Liberty by the very liberal folks and the feminists. If it's true Jefferson is coming to speak then I don't think Liberty cares if one is Calvinist. (He's a driscoll disciple). More of the who's popular at Liberty. Me, It would be awesome to see someone like Denzel Washington or Tony Dungy to come speak.

I thought a bunch of the Driscoll controversy was due to Peter Lumpkins.

A Driscoll disciple is still going to be a dispensationalist. The day that a Calvinist/postmillennialist like Piper or a Calvinist/amillennialist like Keller, both of whom are old Earth creationists, are seen speaking at Liberty will be a big step forward for where the school is in handling theological differences.

yeah that to. i remember the one feminist tried to get a petition to try and get him booted from Liberty.

But Piper has already been invited. IDK about Keller. So the fact one got an invites says Liberty doesn't care about theological differences or in fact one is an old earth creationist. Plus i don't see why it's a problem, alot of students, staff, and faculty believe the world is billions of years old, at least the people i know.

Is there anything to verify the Piper invite?

It does look like things are changing from the days of Jerry Sr. saying that particular love/limited atonement is heresy (April 13, 2007) and Caner saying Calvinists are worse than Muslims. Let's see if the healthy change keeps coming.

Hearing that Dr. Paul has been given an invite from a very reliable source. Now just like last year it really comes down to the few days before if he shows. Also my friend who helps Johnny do the scheduling said they would pull Romney in convo but i wouldnt be shocked to see one of his clones (im mean sons).

He came a few years ago and that is probably when I really understood for the first time he isn't nearly as crazy as people make him out to be. Then I really started researching him, and even though he isn't perfect, he proved to be what I think would be the best thing for this country.

I thought he did a great job when I saw him speak at Liberty

Yea i have seen him speak in person before but it would be nice to hear him at LU. Maybe we can actually bring someone running for President that believes in something other that a religion that we tell all freshman is a cult in GNED but then have no stance on later when they graduate.

I realize you aren't a Romney fan, and neither am I, but did you miss the part where I said Ron Paul spoke at Liberty a few years ago? 4 years ago to be exact. It wouldn't be something new

Jerry in his later years usually qualified his thoughts by saying that hyper-calvinism was the danger, not calvinism. And the attitude you guys are describing was coming mostly from Ergun Caner, who was more combative than persuasive. I think you'd be surprised how many of the seminary faculty at LU are of a Reformed persuasion.

I don't see how it really matters. I'm not a Calvinist, but I don't care if someone is. John Calvin wrote many great things as well.

And his clothing line with Chad Klein epitomized the 80's

Sam Childers? That would 'fire' people up. I'd almost pay to have him and Glenn Kaiser do Spiritual Emphasis week! :D

Matt Chandler would be a great get. Mohler would be awesome too, but I'm not sure that LU students are ready for a 50-minute (minimum) sermon. That was his shortest when I was at Southern; more than once, I was late for my 11:20 class because Mohler had chapel and we ran long.

Forgive my faulty memory, but didn't we have both Chandler & Mohler in the past decade. It seems to me Chandler was on campus for something just a couple of years ago. Am I losing it?
