I have a friend who works there in management, and she just stated on Facebook that the Dickey's location in Lynchburg is CLOSING.

Even winning the FF award for best BBQ in the 'burg was not enough to keep the place open.
Hopefully, the space will get used by another restaurant that has a broader appeal.

Agreed. But Proto 'promised'us a burger joint.

Are you guys kidding? We don't have a single frozen yogurt shop on that side of Wards Road; all three are on the south bound lane.

I think it's about time that HMO went into the frozen yogurt business. 8)

Fuddruckers couldn't even make it in Roanoke/Salem. Closed up shop there several years ago.
The owner would have done much better had he used one of his other restaurant locations. That 419/Orange Ave. location sucked; not really known as a go to spot for dining.

Roanoke is sort of funny like that. There's really only two places that more fancier restaurants work, in Southwest county and out in Botetourt. The mall is the exception but all classes pretty much eat at those restaurants.

Roanokers seem to be rather content with their McDonald's and Hardee's breakfast.

:(

I liked Dickey's. My wife was just saying the other day that we needed to eat there next time we were in the 'burg.

In fact, seems to me they catered a lunch for one of my intensives a few summers ago. Everyone was thrilled with them.

There is something wrong if you fail on that stretch of Wards Road, but Dickey's isn't terrible..its about what you would expect from a chain as far as BBQ goes.

I personally think it actually IS the location. Much more difficult to get in and out of then any other place on Wards Rd

They were just too expensive for the quality. Buddy's, Famous Dave's, and a few other chains are much better for a lower cost.

You are right about getting in and out of that location Hayes. With that ramp coming off of 460 and the people making U- turns to go back to target, it's a cluster. Golden corral and bob evans offer something vastly different and you simply get more food. I liked dickeys though.

True...its been a while since I have been to a Dickey's. I just remember eating there while still in the burg and thinking it was halfway decent.

You know, I think you're right. I completely forgot how hard it is to get in and out of that place. Very poorly designed...

I went yesterday because they give free kids meals on Sundays. I was trying to stock up on the kids sized yellow cups but they were all out of them and using styrofoam cups. It was packed, just like it is every sunday. Too bad for them there's 6 other days in a week.

Dickey's is good, but the prices are just too high for me to go there. I only went for the kids-eat-free Sundays. That's probably what did them in. Other restaurants, beware....

Still, they probably had my favorite ice cream in town. Too bad.

Sunday was their last day, and even then they were out of my 2 favorites--the pickles and the onion tanglers. They still had ice cream then, but no cones.

My Texas wife bought a pound of their brisket for $11 and took it home, but it only lasted 2 days.
