I have to be the only person at Liberty University, outside of Johnnie Moore, that is truly excited for convocation. I may actually have a slight obsession with it. Every day for the past two weeks, I've been checking to see if LU has released the list of the Fall's convocation speakers. To prevent disappointment again tomorrow, does anyone know when this will be released?

That's depressing. Last years line up was awesome. Francis Chan, Mark Driscoll, Michelle Bachman, Brad Stine and a ton of others. I don't care if you don't agree with them, listening to people with that kind of influence three times a week is awesome. I can't wait to see whose coming.

Oh I agree. I may not agree with most of the politicians LU brings but its so cool to see all these people. Stoked to see who they bring this year.

Kirk Cameron is going to be busy on October 5th. He speaks in convo in morning and at my church in Houston that night. I hope he doesn't missing a US Airways connection.

SJ - I agree on Acuff & Stein. Both are highly entertaining. Caine could be interesting but I've never heard her speak. Ken davis bits on YouTube are funny. He could be a quality speaker as well. I know Vischer has been there before but he's interesting to me as well. But Fred Luter is awesome. He'll have the Vines Center rocking. I've honestly never heard Peretti speak. But his books have been awesome since I was going to LU back in the '80s and 'This Present Darkness' turned the Christian literary world upside down.

Mrs. Cider brought him in for the LU Writers Conference (no apostrophe), and Peretti brought his BANJO along with him. Whenever there was free moment, ole Frank would break out his banjo and do some picking and grinning. He was the most humble and authentic writer I've ever met.

He was born in 1953 which makes him 59. It would be great if LU had him and he brought his band. But an acoustical set would be amazing too. Not only does he have the best rock/blues voice EVER, his messages and his life are out of this world. (I was going to go with a song reference but it would be too obscure)

I am not sure what was meant by those comments, but Piper and Keller are both Calvinists. Although I dont agree with them on that issue, I would like to hear them speak at Liberty.

That would be a big step forward if he was. The closest thing to an actual Calvinist that I've seen is Driscoll, and that seemed more like the typical "grab them while they're in the news" move by Liberty. There also seemed to be a good bit of controversy surrounding that.

I'd love to see Liberty bring in people like Piper, Keller, Mohler (I don't remember him being a convo speaker), Matt Chandler, etc. MacArthur was a solid start, but it would be nice if a Reformed believer who isn't a Dispensationalist was brought in.
