Yep looking forward to having Stetson, Mercer, West Georgia and North Alabama join

As much as Im sure we would like another established FCS school (maybe from the MEAC) to join, beggars certainly cannot be choosers. In our desire to hold out for them, if there is someone who wants to join, with the state the football side is in, we need at least someone to fill in. Now once we are gone, then the Big South could crash and burn in football for all I care, but for right now, we need to get whoever we can get (and a new commish too)

Hold Up! We shouldn't be worried if another one leaves in the next year we should be glad right? If were forced to join another conference due to circumstances out of our control wouuldnt our 5million or whatever it is fee to leave be waived?

There definitely is NOT a $5MM fee to leave the BSC. They are in the process of raising the CAA exit fee to $1MM.

Apparently the WAC-Big Sky Olympic-sports alliance is back in play...
Brian Murphy: Vandals need a conference decision soon

By BRIAN MURPHY
The time for action — and deliberation — is running out for Spear and the Vandals. “By Sept. 1, we better have something figured out,” Spear said Saturday.

It could be even sooner.

Idaho has not yet asked the NCAA for a scheduling waiver, but it did talk to the governing body about maintaining FBS status even if the program didn’t compete as a true FBS independent, presumably playing a mix of FBS and Football Championship Subdivision teams.
Idaho is seeking home-and-home contracts with potential opponents, meaning independence is likely a two-year commitment. The Vandals believe conference realignment is not over yet — and that future moves could leave space for Idaho in an FBS league.

“If we can hold out a year or two, see how things unfold, possibly they’ll be a place for the University of Idaho at that level,” Nellis said.
As for the Vandals’ other sports teams, Nellis said the WAC has restarted talks with the Big Sky about an alliance that would involve some teams moving from the Big Sky to the WAC for non-football sports. WAC interim commissioner Jeff Hurd said last month that the talks had been shelved. But they are now back on.

“If the Big Sky-WAC alliance works, that’s a very good solution for all of our Olympic sports,” Nellis said.
Spear has been part of the alliance discussions. Maintaining each league’s conference identity is part of the conversation, he said.

“We’re really interested in playing a regional schedule,” Spear said. “It’s huge for fans. It’s huge for travel reasons.”

I retract the earlier statement. I went back and watched the Hurd WAC VIDEO he for some reason picks Aug. 15th or 18th and or the 30th as dates for possible announcements.

This reminds me of that guy last year who predicted the end of the world back in May. Any relation? Or are you him?

University of Evansville athletic director John Stanley confirmed Monday that Missouri Valley Conference coaches and athletic directors support adding burgeoning baseball powerhouse Dallas Baptist University to the league as a baseball-only member.

The Missouri Valley's member presidents will vote on the move in the coming weeks and, if approved, welcome Dallas Baptist as member on July 1, 2013.

This is coming from SeattleUHoops twitter, now when there is smoke...
And don't knock it since we have been hearing this humor from the annistonstar article about JSU's coach talking about WAC-E. This is gaining more legs.
Hot rumor is that Jacksonville St., Liberty, Delaware, JMU, App. St. and GA Southern could join the WAC in 2014. Keywords: could, rumor.

Can they invite Liberty, Jacksonville St. and Lamar for 2013 and 3 more for 2014? If they could do this, they would at least have the minimum 7 all-sport members for 2013 counting Idaho, NM St., Denver and Seattle. I don't understand why the WAC cannot take under 6 FCS schools for 2013.

The fact that JMU is mentioned gives the article no credibility.

I guess you guys can have all your fun believing unnamed sources and rumors...

Really? JMU name is coming up more even reported by a couple reporters at WAC meetings. They have new pro FBS president.

JMU will struggle to be ready by 2014, but they are definitely moving toward FBS as quickly as they can. Their AD, Jeff Bourne, said that a move to FBS was "likely" in 18-24 months and that was last September. JMU already has its stadium up to FBS standards and its attendance meets FBS minimums.

Just because a couple people here think they know more than they do, that doesn't change the facts of what certain schools are trying to do.
