Liberty also played at Boise State in the early 90's.

Has anyone else bought their tickets?
I looked last week and the prices went up about $400 to over a $1000 since I looked when the game was announced. Unless something happens with a charter flight I think it just got priced out of my ballpark

We played at Cal Poly in 1998

I believe we also played Cal Poly out that way as well
Really BJ?

My wife said i could buy enough miles to get a free ticket. Just need 3k. delta has a deal thru the 31st. Buy 1mile get 50% free. it would cost me $70 for 3K. turns into a real cheap flight now

If you are going to the game where are you staying? i was thinking the Marriott Courtyard since i have MR points. It is about 5 miles from the stadium. Anyone renting a car? I can chip in a few bucks for gas or parking. The hotel has a shuttle to the airport but not to the game.

Chris Lang wrote:That Courtyard was around $200 a night when I looked at it earlier this summer. Checked it again about a week ago and it was down to $119. Not sure if it's fluctuated any further.
it's 20K points per night. Got like 300K marriott rewards points to use. Use them for all the home games.

Also looked online and found a shuttle bus that leaves a restaurant close to there (1000 feet os so)and takes you to the game and back at a low cost. Don't know what time it leaves yet. they said to check with the local establishment.

Found a flight on Delta, leaving out of Charlottesville for Missoula at $395. Not great but I doubt it'll get any better.

Not that I can go, but I'd love to.

That's an awesome fare. I've been hovering on United's site for months hoping a sale would drop my fare from Houston below $500 to no avail. I'm about to bite the bullet at $519 RT.

I am staying with family just south of town. But most of the options up there are solid.

We paid $552 to fly out of National, so yes, $395 is a tremendous fare.

It wasn't terribly more expensive to fly out of Lynchburg, but there were so many connections that it was going to turn into a 16-hour travel day. No thanks.

I bet there is more than one connection with that one. I did a great-rate Delta flight out west a couple of years ago, I believe it might have even been a trip to Missoula, and had a connection in Las Vegas of all places. I had two connections which were a pain but the price was right. The worst part was that the Delta gates at Las Vegas were separate from the main terminal and I had to go back through security. Only place I've ever had that happen. It would have been worth another $100 not to have had to deal with that.

Yes it's two stops.

I had a 5 stop flight a few years ago from Peru to Roanoke. So I don't complain anymore lol

And I am guessing that at least one or two of those stops were an adventure.

I'd spread the word on that Delta deal around campus.

Be sure to give yourself a bit of time to bump around Missoula on your stay. The National Elk Center is really worth an hour or so and is free. And if you guys want a day you'll never forget, grab a rental car (make sure it is unlimited mileage) and drive up to Glacier to drive the "Going to the Sun Road". Best drive in America. Period. Glacier is easily my favorite national park in the continental U.S. It would be a sun up until bedtime round trip. But it would blow you away.

Stopped in Lima, Mexico City, IAH, DFW, O'Hare.

My trip to Peru paid for my airfare to DFW. I had to make the reservations back to Roanoke.

I left Cuzco at 3PM. Got back to Roanoke at 11 PM the next day. Fortunately at that time, I got lucky and got one of United's Explus planes, while still being a regional jet, have tons of leg room. I got to sleep a little bit on the flight to O'Hare.

Sly,
You are right on on the trip to glacier. Coeur d'Alene is a beautiful lake city about 2 hours west. The thing that is totally unpredictable is the weather. Some of the largest temperature drops in the world have been recorded in the area including Rogers pass to the east toward Helena. I stay across town at the courtyard on my business trips and that is where I will stay for the game. I will have a rental car, just not sure how much room I will have. I usually eat in that part of town too, a good county Italian chain is Johnny Carinos (seriously). Another favorite of mine is Old Chicago, but the best pizza in town is Mackenzie River. In downtown, Finn and Porter (steak and seafood) is great. Everything from 5 guys to Vietnam cuisine. The best deal on a room if a few guys chipped in is the Hilton Doubletree. It is literally across the river from the stadium, is easily in walking distance (regardless of the weather) and they have double queen rooms advance purchase at $155. If I weren't using points at the Courtyard, I would stay there for sure. I dont see how they have rooms at that price

See you guys there!!! GO FLAMES!

Thanks for the Intel. Johnny Carinos is a Texas-based chain that Mrs Sly & I have enjoyed for years. I love the Italian butter there with the bread as much if not more than the pasta.

There are tons of places to eat downtown & around the campus.

Missoula is an expensive place to fly in and out of. Some of our fans here fly out of Helena (90 mi.) and Spokane (200 mi.) to get better airfares when going out to some games. Weather should not be a problem coming over either of those passes to the game in September and a scenic drive. Welcome to those of you who do choose to come. Here is the grizzly board address http://www.egriz.com/grizboard/viewforum.php?f=1. I will be posting some pictures from the game to a picture folder located here http://mtmediaplus.com/~mtmedi6/montana ... tball-2012 for those who can't attend. Jim/Liberty Alumi class of '79

Welcome to the board, grizfilmer. I've been registered at egriz for a long time. That place is interesting to say the least.

Airfare from IAH to MSO have jumped nearly $200 in the past week. I'm still trying to score a decent fare but plan on being in the Bitterroot Valley from Thursday to Sunday.

Yellowstone makes you feel like your on a different planet.
If you make it all the way to Montana I would put these two places on your list.

I've hit Yellowstone twice int he past 12 months ... last summer and I snowmobiled in February. The place never ceases to blow me away. That said, I prefer Glacier and it is easier to access from Missoula. Wish I had a chance to run up there on this trip but I don't see it happening.

I finally bought my seats on United today after they had a fare sale that allowed me to get back down to the $500 range after it had bumped up to the $700s when I checked the past couple of weeks. Of course I had to fly out on Monday to take advantage of the sale. Otherwise it was like $780 RT. Yeah, I couldn't justify that either.

So if you have been considering taking the plunge on buying tickets to Missoula, you might check today to see what fares pop up. And consider a Monday return to see if saves you enough to make a difference. I'm crashing with family so I don't have lodging expenses.
