I can't imagine it was the CAA. I can't really think of a good reason why... Most schools not ready for a move up... Seems way too far out of the box thinking for CAA comish... Better options for other FCS invites to solidify conference as a FCS power at lower travel costs... Heavy B-Ball influence... Just can't see it.

LUHoo, I feel that it was the CAA league calling the WAC to make an all football move. Some other boards say it could have been the MIssouri Valley football league. The only other league that has FCS programs with possible interest would be these two leagues, but I feel that it is the CAA. I feel this way because the CAA commish released a statement recently when Gerogia State wanted to go the Sum Belt the commish said that the CAA could not accommodate the timeframe they Georgia state wanted to move to FBS. Many people probably think I'm silly for reading in between the lines but just a hunch. Many others in the CAA boards were also thinking the same thought I have.

I hope that these we are part of the four teams to be invited by the WAC in 2-3 weeks. I hope that this league works out and the WAC-E can make some noise vs. BCS teams. I have always been a fan of the WAC growing up and still living here in Southern California.

Go WAC-E

LUaddict - Im really confused you said you agree with him but im the one that said it was the colonial. I THINK IT HAD TO BE. They're bleeding Football teams nonstop to the FBS and will proly lose more soon. If you listen to Hurd he says the comish of this other league just sorta gave him a ring one day and said hey can we fit under your FBS umbrella. It wasn't thought out or planned indepth.

CAA, MVFC and SoCon all could have been the league that was trying to get everyone moving up. None would be ready right now.

Sorry, what I meant to say that I agreed that it was the CAA or MVC. I will edit that. Those the are the ones that have schools with potential to move up. Not the SoCon.

SoCon has Appy St, GSU (where the AD that was supposedly against the move just went away), Chattanooga (growing market, growing alumni base, surrounded by large markets), Samford (big market), Elon (never been shy about trying to move anywhere), and other schools that are every bit as likely to try and make the move as a full league as schools like Rhode Island or William & Mary would be.

I would actually bank on it being the MVFC first, then either CAA or SoCon depending on which one was willing to try and convince the schools that may be skeptical.

I heard they were separating and TMZ has linked William and Katie Holmes together after her split with Tom Cruise. Apparently, Russel Brand and Mary were seen together at the Opening Ceremonies in London. So there may yet be something to this.

As someone with some knowledge of HBU's situation, I don't see that happening. They are tickled to be in the Southland and don't the National aspirations that we possess.

If the Southland hadn't finally relented and invited them in based on their promise to start football, they would have practically begged the WAC for admission. But a tight regional league against other Texas schools like Sam & SFA is exactly what HBU desired for where they are today. And being with ORU helps having another Evangelical school in the mix ... not that Texas & Louisianan schools have much of an issue with Evangelicals.

Michael Scott ‏@usfmike

@Brian_Ewart @TonyAggieville Liberty, Appl State, Ga Southern and Lamar would be my guess

44m Tony Jones Tony Jones ‏@TonyAggieville

@usfmike @brian_ewart bravo...three of those schools are dead on.

He is saying that Liberty, App State, GSU, and Lamar are rumored to be part of those new additons to the WAC-E. Who would be the fourth team? Are we even included? (Devil's Advocate).

Go WAC-E!
The fourth team must be Jacksonville St. This is the core 4 that Benson mentioned last month.

Georgia Southern's inclusion puzzled me at first because their AD was quoted saying that they weren't moving anywhere, especially if the WAC gave them an invitation... Then it hit me. Realignment is all smoke and mirrors. Everyone is lying through their teeth right now. :D

He also just stepped down as AD a couple of days ago after saying such things :dontgetit

Yeah, can you imagine Wofford & Furman clamoring for FBS? The MEAC would consider FBS before the SoCon. I frankly it wouldn't surprise me if the SWAC was that mystery league.

PS - Welcome to the board, GaSouthern.

Yeager said. “We’ve been aware that GSU was having discussions with the Sun Belt Conference as the CAA could not accommodate that desire within GSU’s time frame.

CAA Football assistant commissioner Scott Meyer, advised on Twitter to, “read into it as much as you prefer, but [Yeager] doesn’t want to rule out anything in terms of league/membership opportunities.

I guess its more like an Assumption announcement LOL

It would be A whole LOT MORE AWESOME IF IT ENDED with "WELCOME TO THE ACC LIBERTY". HAHAHA. I'd be just as happy with a WACKY move(then at least we wont look as bad the first few years)!

Grand Canyon is quickly becoming our rival, though not yet from an athletic standpoint. Though a bit behind us, they are the "Liberty of the west" and are even head hunting some of our employees, enticing them with fat salaries and a list of perks. They do have national level aspirations, and with a large online enrollment and a stock ticker they have the ability to raise quite a bit of money as well.

They recently moved into a 40 million dollar, 5,000 seat, on campus, university owned basketball arena similar to the Vines -

While not the Vines Center obviously, it isn't bad for a Division II school. Located in Phoenix, they have plenty of market potential if they ever need to pull that card. Their big drawback....no football.

P.S. If this morphs into "civic center" talk that was not the purpose, though for the record I fully support the second deck of seats in the Vines rather than a civic center that we don't own that's not located on campus.
