Just met with WAC commissioner Jeff Hurd this evening. Will have an announcement in 2to 3 weeks on new football members.

im guessing Jax State, Liberty, Lamar, and App State could go as early as 2013 with Georgia Southern and NDSU following later!


Seattle and Denver are also thinking about fielding teams!

BLOOM!!! I knew this wasn't a dead Idea...(.One of the guys posted this under football feasibility). If the WAC keeps football and we don't get something better soon "we will go".

This idea could be a complete long shot in terms of probability. However, what if we accepted an invite to the WAC, say tomorrow, but the conference never got to the 8 teams needed to remain an FBS conference, could we then become an independent? I know you can't just leap from FCS to FBS and be an independent, but this way we actually would have joined a conference then have no home. Don't judge my grammar on this, I'm watching my two year old brother as I'm typing.

So the WAC is definitely adding football teams in 3-4 weeks. It's either the long anticipated WAC-East or they've convinced other teams to jump.

Who else could it be? Anyone in the other FBS leagues? I highly doubt it

We're mentioned on there along with Jax St., Lamar and JMU. Obviously, don't credit the poster but it shows that our name is out there with some of these Western fans. I've read through the board and I haven't seen any "anti-Liberty" people yet. Nobody really thrilled about us, as to I think most of them understandably want other western teams to join, but nothing negative either.

Perhaps the Jax State coach knew more than we credited him. This certainly has all the markings of WAC East potential. I would suggest the following schools as potentially ready to start transition:

• Appalachian State
  Jacksonville State
  Lamar
  Liberty

yeah along with that, Appy State saying no to the CAA even with the rumors of Elon and CofC going to the CAA. I Definitely think it's going to happen. Will GA Southern/JMU/NDSU join? maybe because i think the NCAA will grant the WAC a special waiver and allow those schools to transition later.

Much rather be in FBS that CAA. If we move now(ish) we avoid the possible moratorium. We are in and can move around within FBS later if needed. We would also be successful sooner if we move up with a group of other FCS teams. Win, Win.
