He's too emotional still. He needs time so he can post without tears.

lol...thanks Cider

I will say this. Having met Jesse on a few occasions, I can say for sure that he is everything that Liberty would and should expect from our athletes. Competitive on the court (and in his case excelling) and an active part of the community not just at Liberty but in Lynchburg as a whole. If only we could put a little of him in all of our athletes.

I agree 100% but all enrolled students and alumni are Liberty....so WE(Liberty) should expect this type of behavior from all of OUR athletes. Just my pet peeve. Great Post BJ

I get what you're saying Dickens. my overall point is that Jesse is the "consummate Liberty athlete" and we can be glad he wore that name on the front of his jersey the last four years

That's a pretty big honor for Jesse.

I was going to say I don't think he has a snowball's chance to make it to the NBA but then again I never thought Jesse would go down as one of the greatest LU basketball players ever, either. If he doesn't make the NBA, I think there is a lot of money waiting for him overseas.

I didn't know a lot about this tourney till I talked to one of my friends. He thinks this is a huge honor for Jesse and will definately help his chances to play professionally. I think he will get on in the D league somewhere like Thomas did, and then from there? who knows. If I was an NBA GM, I know I'd give him a shot.

The P.I.T. has quietly become a respected event for college seniors to showcase their talents for scouts in the NBA and other leagues around the world. With a lot of guys leaving early, it doesnt have AS MUCH star power as it did even back when I got to see it as a child, but its still a very good week and will give Jesse a chance to gauge himself against some good competition

The NBA doesn't sign many kids out of Portsmouth directly. But scouts get a chance to get an up close look that gives them a better feeling about signing these guys if they show anything overseas.

Jesse has similar challenges to a kid coming out Harvard a couple of years ago. He has to prove the doubters wrong. But nobody will out-hustle him. Nobody.

As I said Sly, it doesnt have as much star power as it did with a lot of kids only going one or two years these days, but you are bound to find a few diamonds in the rough before the end of the week

According to Jesse, he's adding another country to his passport. He'll now be playing for Limburg United of Belgium. He'll get his fill of frites with mayo, chocolate, waffles and brussels sprouts.

Congrats, Jesse!
