Booker T. Washington’s Zain Upshur may be new to the game, but it’s not slowing him down. The burly Booker landed his third scholarship offer on Friday after a one-day camp, and that makes BTW Head Coach Che Jacobs quite proud of his lineman.
“He got his offer from Liberty at their camp,” said the coach. “He went up there and they loved his power and speed. He beat all of the linemen (at the camp). Coach Vantz Singletary was using Zain in all of his demostrations. The offensive and defensive line coaches loved him. Zain went over to Coach (Turner) Gill and he offered him.”
The offer from Liberty becomes the third scholarship offer for Zain, following offers from South Carolina State and Hampton University.
“I think this one’s going to be a big one because the coaches at Liberty saw his film, but he got offered from his performance at camp,” said Coach Jacobs. “He went up to the camp and they just loved him. Zain liked the campus. We’ll see what happens from here. It’s a long process. We’re going to Elon on Tuesday.”
