We've still got Kemmerer and Herndon who have started for us this year available, and maybe Niggli but he hasn't made two starts in a week this season and threw about 100 pitches in the win on Tuesday. CCU has three guys who started that have not made appearances yet: Ben Smith, Patrick Corbett and Devin Bradley so I'd venture it'll be one of those three getting the start tomorrow

Watching Sports Center right now and the HR call was #6 in the top 10 plays. Looking forward to making the drive over and watching us finally beat the beach chickens.

I think Tyler Herb will pitch since he's their No. 1 since Conway went down and he only pitched 3 + innings on Tuesday. I think we may come back with Niggli and Kemmerer with one of them starting and the other in relief, if necessary. They will have a lot of fresh arms and Connolly out of the bullpen. We will need to find a way to hit their superior pitching today. Any word on Andy Smith playing today - Cordell did not do very well yesterday in his place.

Connolly went 6 against Radford on Wednesday. he may be available for an inning. wouldnt surprise me if Herb gt the ball, although he got smacked around pretty good in the opener against CSU. We need to not think about the fact that we've lost to them 16 in a row but look at it as another game. Remember when the children of Israel thought that Goliath was too big to hit, David thought he was too big to miss

HMO, I'm not a math major or a stats guy, but wouldn't LU have a better chance of beating Coastal ONCE than beating them TWICE? I say the odd are in our favor. Go Flames!

Connolly and Burke are both rubber arm type guys ... Burke may only be able to pitch an inning or so, but I wouldn't be surprised if he went.

Re: Smith ... it's pain tolerance. Nothing is broken. But he couldn't grip a bat yesterday, and if he can't hit, there was no point in him playing. I'm sure the swelling has subsided further, but until I get to the yard, I'll have no idea if he can go or not.

The only pitchers unavailable today for Liberty are Eckelbarger and Roy. Everyone else is on deck. Niggli threw 100 pitches Tuesday but really only labored in the seventh inning. He'll be fine. Liberty has to jump on Coastal early because the bullpen is the strength and Gilmore will go to it early.

Interesting dynamic in play, though. Coastal is in the regionals regardless. They don't have to win this game. I wonder if that affects how Gilmore will use his pitching. He wants to win this game. But he doesn't have to. He said as much yesterday after the HPU game.

By far the biggest game in Liberty baseball in the last 10 years. Flames haven't had a one-chance shot at Coastal like this under Toman. Always have had to win two. Should be a blast.

Yes, that's the only good thing about all of this...we dont have nearly as good of a chance in best 2 out of 3 but in baseball IMO a 1 game championship doesnt always equate to the best team winning rather than the best #1 starter
