Bryce Harper is in the upper tier of players in MLB already. Wait until he figures out how to play and actually grows into his body.

Went to the home debut on Tuesday and saw the most amazing batting practice display I've ever witnessed. He's also a plus defender with a tremendous arm and he's only played the OF for a year.

I know a few of you have MLB.TV subscriptions, so I'm not sure if you've seen it but have you all seen the new MLB Strike Zone channel? It's pretty nice. Only airs on Tuesday and Friday nights though.

I haven't seen it yet. What is it? I have MLB.TV running on my iPad almost every night.

It's sort of like NFL Red Zone. Shows highlights and switches to games when runners are in scoring position. It comes with my Extra Innings subscription. I'd love to have MLB.tv but my Internet isn't fast enough for a quality picture.

Oh, ok. You made it sound like it was something that came with MLB.TV. Sounds like a cool concept. I really like NFL Red Zone.

Yeah I meant to ask if it came with an MLB.tv subscription, but I forgot to make it sound that way. My fault.

It looks like its just an Extra Innings thing though.

For those with MLB.TV or Extra Innings, Verlander has a no-no going through 8.

Johan Santana no-hit the Cardinals for the first no-hitter in Mets history. Great accomplishment especially against a good team.

During the Nats broadcast tonight they mentioned that Bryce Harper is now batting .429 the second time he sees a pitcher and .414 the 3rd time he sees a pitcher. That's just ridiculous for any MLB player, much less a 19 year old kid.

Some perspective on just how amazing Harper's initial play has been for a 19 year old kid.

One thing not mentioned in the article is that he became the 2nd youngest visiting player, behind Robin Yount, to homer in Fenway Park over the weekend. He already became the 2nd youngest to ever steal home against "Old School" Cole Hamels earlier this season.

As the article discusses, he may just exceed the ridiculous hype he got.

Matt Cain perfect game. Definitely one of those guys you knew had it in him, but to do it while getting 14 strikeouts is ridiculous.

That 14 Ks ties Sandy Koufax for the most Ks in a perfect game in MLB history.

I caught the last couple of innings and the performance Cain put up was phenomenal. I only saw one batter do anything that got close to getting on base.

I'm kicking myself right now because I was watching and I said to myself well he's perfect through 4 maybe I should stay up... oh well.

The catch by Gregor Blanco in the 7th might be the best defensive play I've ever seen in a perfect game. That ball should have been a double or triple and the lay out catch on the warning track was phenomenal.

Guys, he did that to the 'Stros. That's not much better than a perfect game against the Hillcats. It was impressive but far from shocking.

Houston has a better offense this year, granted Carlos Lee is hurt right now. It's the pitching that has to be developed.

"Better" is a very relative term. And all of our arms are on the trade market right now. Jim Crane may be the worst owner in professional sports history.

Houston is 16th in MLB in runs scored, 18th in hits, 20th in BB%, and 20th in HR. They're just below average as a MLB offense. That's a good feat for any pitcher.

Give him some time. Firesales are painful but they have to be done to build up the farm system (I experienced this for almost 10 years with my Rays)! Plus their offense is terrible right now.

What I can't figure out is how Brad Mills is still the manager.

Anyone who happens to be awake should tune in to MLB Network as Ervin Santana is doing something special through 6 innings.

Anybody been to Angels Stadium? I'm heading west for a week with senior-high kids on a mission trip. Lucked out and the Orioles are in town, and will be wearing my O's hat to next Thursday's game. We have cheap seats, but hoping for the best. Pujols will probably look like an ant from the upper deck. Wondering about parking, and any feedback other than Bird-trashing will be welcomed.
