Lots of dingers today--Davis, Betemit, and Reimold.

Now if Reynolds could just get hot (as in sniffing the Mendoza line).

Just to put this in perspective. Imagine this so far this year.

Baltimore Orioles combined ERA: 2.96.
Tampa Bay Rays combined ERA: 5.70.

Nobody would have guessed that. Of course, the question is how long that will last either way. It's big-time early, but this O's team has really surprised me. I was much more optimistic last year going in after the finish in '10, but that team turned out to be another dud. I like Showalter (his uncle was a teacher at my elementary school and looks just like him), and this revamped pitching staff is most certainly a pleasant surprise. So far. Trying not to get too giddy but enjoying it.

As long as Showalter can keep Kevin Gregg OFF the mound, the O's ERA may drop even more.

I agree. Kevin Gregg was no good in Toronto, he's not good anywhere for that matter. When he was Toronto's closer I remember how excited I'd get because he blew almost every save against the Rays.

Stink, stank, stunk today. Why? AAA Matusz (8.37 ERA) and Kevin Gregg (12.27 ERA) pitched!

It's sad that Matusz hasn't bounced back. As for Gregg, it's just sad.

Sitting A top the A.L. East.

I would LOVE to see a playoff game in Camden.

As a longtime O's fan, let's not get too ahead of ourselves. Being able to say "First-place Orioles" at some point in May would be a start.

Yeah, take it from a Pirates fan. They were in first place in July last year before they came crashing back down. Be very patient!

Hey wait you're tied with the Rays!

Weird stat of the year though: The Royals are 5-4 on the road, 0-10 at home.

Let's also not forget the when Cal played, the Orioles had a pretty good team.

What? Cal's teams won ONE World Series (1983) in his entire career!

Though they did make it to the playoffs twice during the Alomar spitting, Raffy doping days.

O's sweep the BoSox, winning the last game in 17 innings, with their first baseman Chris Davis getting the win on the mound.

That was a whale of a win! The Birds are now 19-9 and have the best record in baseball.

You are lucky I didn't get fantasy credit for a Chris Davis save  I know, off topic lol.

It was a great game. It's funny how I like extra innings games, unless my team is playing in them!

Yeah, JB, we had a nice rematch, especially with how poorly I started the week. I need to get three wins out of it so you can't have the Davis save. :)

Actually I just looked, Chris Davis got the win, and it did count. Wow. And it tied you in the win category.

Ouch. Oh, well. It was worth it for the O's win.

When's the last time a 1B went 0-8 with 5 K and still had a good day?

I don't even know if he meant to, but that changeup to Adrian Gonzalez in the 17'th was nasty

He was in the 90s with his fastball. I'm guessing he was a pretty good pitcher in high school, if not later in his career. Seemed like he knew what he was doing. Impressed he threw strikes. Boston's guy couldn't find the zone at all.

Chris Davis said he pitched in college, and it showed. That split finger fastball was nasty!
