I noticed Lewellyn starting at DT ahead of Fewell. And Gill had high praise for him afterwards. I'm excited about the DL.

Who were the first team LBs and Safeties?

Rice and Barnett as first team RBs. I hadn't heard Chase was moved back to RB. Aldreakis and Chauncey with the 2nd team.

And I didn't hear Pratt's name mentioned. Did he play?

I lived on the same dorm as Bryant the year he decided to walk on with the football team...so proud to hear of him getting the Samkon Gado award for the defense.

Maybe the coaching staff is trying to find the right position for him. His stats as a WR are not that substantial to justify a starting position but he does have speed and a lot of credibility as a top notch recruit (3 stars on rivals). That does thin out our WR position and that may open the door to some of our true freshman like Peterson to step up.

sounds like almost any position is up for discussion- we have wideouts playing D and Defensive guys kicking.

change is good for the soul

ie: he done blowed up the team

No. We're not sure if he's going to name captains before the season or on a game-by-game basis. None were named yesterday, though.

I think moving Pratt to defense and Barnett back to RB may indicate that 5 foot something WRs don't fit well into Gill's system. It also speaks to the confidence he has in the crop of receivers we recruited.

Sorry for any confusion...I am not related to Mitch...73 was my number...but yes my son is on the team...don't want to embarrass him so I use a screen name to keep from doing so. But I too congratulate Mitch. He is a big body too!

Go Flames!!!

my thoughts about the game was the defense was very active and looked fantastic in all aspects. I know the offense was vanilla, but i have zero confidence in Brennan and i think you could tell in his mannerisms and his postgame interview it was written all over his face. I do not care if things were vanilla, those picks were awful! i liked what i saw from Hudson and Brennan, and the fact this is a new system you would think an experienced player like Tyler would have stepped up, but he just does not look comfortable at all. I really hope im wrong and im not trying to pile on, i was simply disappointed in the effort.

Agreed, Smoothie. Hudson looked like the MAN out there. Maybe Tyler is nursing an injury or something, but he didn't look sharp at all yesterday.

Brennan had missed the last 4-6 practices due to an ankle injury. he was contemplating whether or not to play on Saturday. So he was timid obviously from an injury standpoint. I believe once he gets healthy over the next few weeks, he will be ready. But i am sure a QB battle with take place all summer long.

Did anyone else see the bronze statue of Mr. George Rogers in his WWII uniform inside the stadium? That's new this year, right? Very classy move on the part of JB. Looks like something you would see on VMI's campus (that's a compliment coming from the son of a veteran).

And how did the streaming work for those who couldn't make the spring game in person?

It was pretty decent, my feed would hesitate for 2-3 seconds occasionally. Overall, it was great to be able to watch it while home sick with the flu.

Funniest part of the broadcast, after Brennan threw the 1st interception, during the replay, Paul Rutigliano called him "Tyler Falwell".

If anyone is going to throw to the wrong team, it would be him.
