Time to consider this just a little more. Sweep tomorrow, then have SJ go on a late season run, and this helps a ton.

I said this in a PM to smoothie (and one other guy I think) but we probably will need 45 (we are just over a third of the way there) wins to be really considered for an at large. I think sweeping everyone from 6th on down and taking two of three from the other 4 in the top half of the league will get us there.

I also would say we must win at least 75% of our conference games. No series losses, although if we lost 2 out of 3 to CCU it wouldn't kill us, though they are down this year.

Last year we had a pretty tough schedule. The fact is right now, we really don't. UVA is our only true standout win.

Trust me, this SJU team is very talented. They also go on a late season run, and if we are able to sweep tommorow this will be HUGE, it's still huge with 3 out of 4. Also Richmond is now 10 and 3 so that win is looking like it could be a nice one. VT continues to win as well, so that could be another RPI boost. JMU is a big surprise, they lost again today and sit at 5 and 9 on the season i believe. Back to St Johns, they have two guys throwing 95 mph and a nasty lefty and the conference hitter of teh year. This team will make a run like always and these will be huge.

Interestingly enough, the two conference teams LU misses this year appear to be two of the weaker teams in the league in VMI and Charleston Southern. That should help with the RPI come May should the Flames be in need of a resume booster.

I've been checking Warren Nolan's rankings every week. Before our series with Presby, we were 140. Today, we're 87. It's amazing how much that series bumped us up.

The next 8 games will show alot. VCU, Marshall, and Campbell are 140,163, and 87 respectively. While more than likely not regional type teams, they all have some very respectable wins. There is clearly pressure to win them all being in the position we are in, but if we can go 6-2 and be 29-6 with 20 games to go, that would be a successful stretch.

By the way, we climbed up to 68 in the RPI ratings today.

To have two Big South teams receiving this many votes this far into a season is rare. For CCU to not be one of them is even more surprising.

Bear in mind PA that after our lat set of back to back losses, we set off on the second of our 7 game winnng streaks. We definitely need to right the ship this weekend though.

Bear in mind that Jim Toman still coaches this team and if he goes on one of his streaks of putting a gaudy amount of unneeded pressure on the players then we could lose a lot of games we shouldn't. Thankfully we have Murray and Hagen around to balance that.

We still have a couple shots to make a splash with the committee with CCU at home and UNC so I wouldnt put this to bed just yet...getting there though

Don't look now, but that UVA win may still be meaningful. The Hoos are up to 24th in the polls and 31st in RPI. If they finish off this sweep of Wake Forest, that should help us even more.

Never mind what I said last week.

Either we go on a tear or we must win the tournament.

Even as an at-large, you can bet the folks who decide will be looking at those two losses to VCU. Not good.

We get a couple big games coming up @ UGA and @ UNC. Get one of those and itll help our case. get BOTH and thatll probably be enough to offset the VCU losses. We also get CCU in our ballpark and they arent as dominant as they have been so we certainly have a chance to make another statement
