are you talking total precipitation or what I'm going to see on the ground? Because we don't get in Lynchburg what you get west of us.

1-3 for Lynchburg. I try to keep the focus on Lynchburg when I type. Though 4 inches isn't out of the rhelm of possibility. But thank you for reminding me of that. I'll try to be more clear where I'm talking about.

Temperatures will likely fall below freezing, so the roads will probably be dicey by early morning.

Yeah, if a storm is coming from the west, Roanoke will get more than Lynchburg.

Everybody safe out there? I heard tornados in Ferum and then a tornado watch as close as Timberlake Road.

I've cleaned out my gutters, put 2 waterproof tarps on my tent camper, and am watching the rain from my covered front porch. And hearing lots of thunder as well sirens in the distance.

Any weather damage from the storms this evening?

A lot of hail, the yard was white but appears to be no real damage here in Evington. The trees out front didn't fare too well, all their leaves that had just popped out were shredded to bits. I have never seen a hail storm like it. Heavy hail for at least 15 minutes, 1/4"-1/2" stones.

yeah it looked bad. Glad you guys are safe. Have a friend in Evington too so I was worried. There was even light pink showing up on the radar, that rarely happens on an NWS radar.

I actually got nervous enough to move the dogs and wife to the basement. Which was good because we saw that our doors are leaky!

Yes. Because she wanted to make sure the dishes were put away, the dryer was ON, and the sofa covers were on correctly.

This year's tornado season is just getting rev'd up. Probably be one of the worst years in a while. Though being from the Tidewater area, I have a much larger affinity for hurricanes. I ride home to my parents house every time one threatens.

 it's not much bigger than 1 person! Still glad to know all was alright. It had the hook showing on radar which can often imply a tornado. Once the clouds gave way around 11am, and feeling how humid it was, I knew right away that the afternoon would bring fun and games for everyone. But thank God nobody appears to be injured.

We had friends in Sunday school who drove up from Smith Mountain Lake. They said the hail was so deep down there that the county had to use snow trucks with blades to push the hail off the roads.

I saw a picture on facebook posted on wxrisk, a lady had 6 inches of hail accumulation. Let me see if I can find that picture.

Hope this works:

Late April snow? NAM says yes.

I still say no, you may get flurries Monday morning though.

HPC has odds of Lynchburg getting an inch around 10 percent, 50 percent in Roanoke. I say right now, good forecast.

I would defer to Elmer Towns....he always predicts this April weather down to the day.

It's a QPF map. QPF is the liquid amount of precipitation. Anything inside or north of the "0" line can be snow.
