Given the expectations and how we finished, I say so. If it happens again next year....

Cant say I even thought we'd make the 1st round after the first few weeks. Injuries absolutely killed us this year....even with some of the guys that came back late...if we would have had our full squad we're just as good as anyone else.

But, I suppose you have to prepare for the worst case scenario always....

Chippy....we're losing the 1 player that won us tons of ball games nearly by himself....we have pieces but until I see who's going to control them I'll be a little nervous

Just like every major sport. In the crunch time, we crumble.

I figured there may have been sarcasm there, but being that G-W has been right there scraping the bottom, I knew the answer verbatim. Holtmann has got to show marked improvement next year with supposedly most of the roster coming back or else we may need another change. Sounds like y'all are thinking along that same wavelength, although I really like both Holtmann and Layer.

agreed, PG is the key spot for the future, we just had a 4 year stalwart there. Jesse was 2nd in the nation in the efficiency rating on several websites i use. Good luck to our future PG in putting up those numbers haha.

I'll say this and it may be unpopular. I really think Minaya hurt us more than he helped us most of the year. Sure he was scorching hot a couple games, but he plays the worst D of everyone that gets major minutes and if his jumper is off he's worthless to have on the court. I thought he killed us tonight with ill advised shots and just continuously jacking it up there. I think he was hurt by the fact that we never had the main scorer this year so he felt like he had to step in and be that guy when he should be more of a complimentary piece that spots up and shoots. Not having the true number one scorer did us in more than the injuries IMHO.

I do think our front line is as deep and talented as i've seen since I've followed. Gielo & Smith should improve even more, Burrus and JVP really showed improvement this year. Not sure what to expect with Baird and Coronado coming in. The question marks are going to come with the other spots on the floor next year, front court is rock solid

I like Layer, but if he isn't able to win a conference tournament game next year, changes may have to be considered.

Emmanuel Andrews 5'11" JUCO will bring scoring and speed to that position next year. Led Cape Fear CC in scoring 18+ a game dishes out assists and steals the ball with some regularity. We'll be in good hands.

Jesse had the intangibles that made all the players around him better. Hopefully that spirit, cultivated by coach, we'll stay here as long as coach is here.

Inconsistency is your middle name. If you didn't think JB was doing a good job then at least have the balls to stick with it when the team is winning. The sad fact is you have absolutely no guts to stick with what you believe in unless the men's basketball team is losing. It is all you care about. You are so transparent its not even funny.

we got outplayed that is for sure but that is on the coaching staff, not JB. You are too delusional and bitter to see that.

Welcome aboard the train! :D although I think his first post was in jest, everything else you said was just about spot on.
I'm not sure being outplayed can be put squarely on the coaches, since they aren't actually the ones playing. CSU got off to a blistering start, we took that punch and closed it within 2 possessions going into half. We just didnt have anything left in the tank and that happens when overcoming a huge deficit.
We will miss JS no doubt, but we dont need another one just like him if other positions stepp and improve which I believe they will. Now, if we HAD another Jesse :D

You're right CSU wasn't missing shots and there is little that could be done. We made our run and played hard. I was not trying to imply that coaching was the only thing we could look to but when you run down a particular program you don't immediately go to the athletic dept. you look to the man leading that program and that man the last I checked was Dale Layer. I like Dale and am not saying anything about his future because its a year too early for that kind of talk but its only agenda driven people that seem to skip over the coach and go right to the AD. With that logic why don't we skip the AD and point fingers at the chancellor who doesn't fire him?

Its such faulty logic that only comes from someone who his an axe to grind. It comes from someone that can't get over a messy breakup. It comes from someone that ignores the majority who are completely critical of this program and only reads the kool-aid sipping posts from people like BJ.

I don't know why this guy bothers me so much but he does. I guess because I don't like when people pick and choose what they see and try to spin things that simply don't exist.

Wow this is long. I should probably be working right now
