Mel Hankinson bought this program to its knees. I may not think in the complex world of a BJ who must throw those who would challenge our athletic process on the trash pile. I don't like where we are or how we have gotten there. To spit venom on a coach who was a or the major contributor in our greatest mbb days is ridiculous. 1) Alot of our "fans" talk about our teams like they are rec. league soccer programs...where we arent really suppose to keep score...cuz we dont want little Johnny to feel bad about losing ! Therefore, we talk about are teams "trying their best " or "improving" in some generic sense...but the fact is.....the records and stats dont reflect it......We're living in a dream world. This is NCAA Division 1 athletics ! ..."grow some..."

There is a ton of sugar coating going on about our level of performance both in mbb and fb. Excuses flying in all directions and anybody who might question the direction is cut or seems some are even banned from participation. We want our bubble to not have the toxic of truth just our politically correct pep rally.

Well I'm just blown away by how articulate and sound your reasoning is in defense of your position. However, I must point out that you failed to address the main point. My comment to you was about your points regarding a 10 look at the program. Your argument comes apart because we have not had the same coach for 10 years. Had we had the same coach for 10 years you would have much more validity in your argument because there would be a large body of work to evaluate. A coach in position for 2 or 3 years is not going to give you a large enough sample size for your arguments to hold up. Otherwise, based on your reasoning, we should fire any coach who doesn't win the Big South, let alone have a losing record.

This has been a disappointing season. I know that, PH knows that, pretty much everyone on this board (from Sly on down) knows that. At the end of the day though, we also know that these boys didnt mail in the season and now have a chance, after starting 0-6 and staring I believe only the third sub-10 win season since the turn of the new century and staring a number 10 seed square in the face, to finish in the upper half of the conference (with a little help). Though this year was definitely well below expectations after last year, these guys have shown a lot more fight than you or ToC would have. Im sure TBGBG would (maybe grudgingly) admit that they have turned things around since the change to 2012.

JB is not the problem. He is one of best ADs in the country. we are fortunate to have him on the mountain.

It is his first AD job...he was not in high demand! He is a great interior decorator. Great at throwing the $$$ around and very mediocre with his programs.

Why qualify your disappointment with they play hard. Any coach worth his salt and players with any pride are going to compete to some degree. one day the merry-go-round will stop and we will see the problems of our image spin athletics.

Are we gonna have to put up with this every time our team sucks?
I like to make lists. If I could rank the reasons this mens basketball team sucks this year, in which we can still make a realistic run in the tournament, Jeff Barber would be far down that list.

I dont think its fair to toss out all the other reasons this team has a bad RPI, and low attendance, and skip straight to JB.

If you have tossed in the towel on this team and think there is no realistic chance we win the tournament, then I cant respect your opinion about our program and our AD.

I think all of us have played nice so far in regards to RD. I dont think anyone on here desires to throw him under the bus for his off the court issues, but you 2 make it really convenient. You should realize that him being canned had little to do with is record.
