I don't think anybody's posted in this thread since jbock's debut. It's been a quiet summer and winter

Each individual event is different so that's why I didn't add it to some other long thread.

ok, I've been watching the precipitation headed this way and I just don't see this happening. You can tell when we're gonna get stuff in Lynchburg, and the rest of the time when it's questionable, we don't get anything. I just don't see how this gets us snow.

Well, what specifically do you mean? Do you think it won't be cold enough? Or the precip?

I was talking about the precipitation but I was either looking at the wrong map or it turned into a monster storm overnight. I guess it's all about the temps now.

Yep. The actual low was still over Southern New Mexico last night, so that's why you didn't see any precip there. But the rain in Texas last night was out ahead of the low. Now it's phasing with the low.

Temps I think should be okay. Overnight, the high pressure in Canada will wedge cooler air down the mountains just after sunset. I'd look for a drastic change in temps between 5PM and 9PM.

I'm still thinking 5-7 for Lynchburg. Meanwhile for me, on top the ridge, it looks like 6-9.

I have to give credit to channel 13, at least they've been on top of this storm. 7 is a joke, like always, when it comes to snow. Which is sad because I like their news, but they are awful on winter storms.

Haniwich had a good forecast until McKee came in and messed it up this afternoon.

We have a blog here in DC that is phenomenal with their weather predictions. They've nailed the storms and misses almost perfectly the last 3 years. They've downgraded our area to no more than 1-2" but the picture they have up for snowfall certainly pushes you guys into the 2-5" range at least.

You'll probably have to scroll up to see the accumulation map.

Funny story - On the radio today, Corfont gives the weekend weather, says Saturday warm and clouds increasing late with rain overnite. Then, "sunday, unseasonably warm with a high of 57, and clouds increasing late in the day", Huh? She gave the saturday forecast for sunday too. How do you do that?

Its gonna be way more than 2-5 inches.

Latest NAM model has 8-10 inches for everyone along 460.

Yeah I don't really like Corfont. She has a major bias forwards warm weather.

I go with the weather channel. But I say nuttin but rain. If it snows we will have to postpone our game with Harrisonburg till Tuesday and if we win play back to back nights. Ugh

As long as it melts by Monday around lunch. I'm fine. We have a great chance but only go 7 deep and playing back to back will kill us!

I don't know where you're getting this 7" stuff from jb. Every forecast I can find says anywhere from 2-4. And they are normally way high.

Weather models. In fact channel 7's shows 6-12 inches, but they keep overriding it and saying 2-4.

I'd link to it but I'm on my phone, but look up "wx risk" on facebook. Dave Tolleris has some great stuff on there which may also help explain. Although he's got Lynchburg in 8-12, I can't see it going that high but it's not impossible.

Correct Beej. The main system is back in TN still. The delay gives a better chance to cool temps, and stick more snow to the roads.

Dialing it back to 3-7.
