I too am north of 50 and have not been a Liberty student for many years. But the atmospere created at the games now, and the fun that the students add as they sing along with Journey, are part of the reason I drive three hours each way to attend LU football games. And I sometimes wish they would turn it up!!

The truth is, it's not for those of us who are graying. It's all done to create an exciting "Big College" type atmosphere for the students. And I am all for it!!

When the band is more concerned about the "pageantry" of the game than providing a good atmosphere and learning your typical marching band in the stands music then you're pretty much stuck with playing stuff over the PA.

Rock n roll music blaring adds nothing to game other than un-necessary noise. There appears to be an NCAA rule that requires noise at all times. must be to keep fans from "talking" to the refs during dead balls.

I am real. I have not missed a LU home game in 5 years , and I believe only 2 in 8 years. But I go for the football, not the music. If I wanted music I'd go to a concert.

He is the ghost of Andy Rooney!
The music is for the fans, not necessarily the players. The NCAA does have a rule regarding noise during live ball situations, which, and correct me if I'm wrong, is when the athletes actually participate in the sport you claim to be interested in.
ballcoach must be theguywho who tried to take the door to the game day op room a few years ago because they were playing Motown music :brownbag
Good call SJ. Pagent and grid iron don't do well together!

So lets get rid of the food, cheerleaders, band, video board, tailgating,.....

food , cheerleaders, band can stay. They add excitement to the game. the video board can stay also, but that needs tweaking. We somehow figure out a way to screw up or be late on a lot of plays, especially replays. Camaras always seen to be pointed in every direction except the line of scrimmage

It depends on what they are wearing !

You can tell ballfraud has a high school view of the world of athletics. How does food add excitement to a game? Although what can give you a more acute appreciation of time then when that 3rd drink is ready to vacate the premises and you have to wait to use the facilities while people in front of you are trying to figure out how to flush the toilet and whether or not you should just go in the sink!

Ballfraud, you do understand that a 'replay' can only happen AFTER the play right?

ballcoach, do us all a favor and save the humor for the summer season. There's not much going on here and all of us could use a laugh during dead season!

Like Roccgroh. He knew to act up during the summer season because none of us really care.

Yeah, because when I see crowds going crazy during TO's etc the PA system is always silent. I see crowds always break into spontaneous song at random points during the game. The NFL and major college conferences are so clueless about the impact of a silent crowd. Think of the money that could be saved by not having PA systems in stadiums or arenas!

WEll you can either not go to games or have your Gaithers or whatever music you like in your ears so you dont have to listen to it

I would recommend Sure brand earbuds. They are pretty expensive but do a great job with cutting outside noise while delivering great sound that you don't have to turn up very much

The Gaithers are much better than than stuff they play. If PA system went out, it would not bother me at all. Heck, I have considered cutting the wires. I know enough about football to know what's going on with music thrown in.

I am. I got my tickets for the Mrs and I for Elton John in March and Van Halen in April. We may even chuck a football around the arena!
