LU finished 3rd out of 12 teams in the NAQT Regionals, going 9-2, but we beat the team, UNC-Chapel Hill, that won it all.

Georgia Tech played out of the their region, so we really should have finished first or second in our region, had they not been there. LU's Catherine Hardee got a medallion for earning MVP of the tournament for scoring 1005 points (91.4 PPG). There is a possibility that Liberty could get invited to the NAQT National Tournament in Chicago in March.

WINS
LU 380, College of Charleston 95
LU 295, North Greenville 75
LU 280, Davidson 235
LU 295, UNC-Chapel Hill 280
LU 360, VA Tech 175
LU 335, Radford 120
LU 370, Roanoke 150
LU 430, High Point 80
LU 385, LU (jv) 70

LOSSES
LU 180, GA Tech 270
LU 200, Vanderbilt 275

STANDINGS

BJ, Corbin is doing an internship in DC this semester and could only get away for one tournament, so we jointly chose the Big South for him. Purple, we do have a home schooled, Bible college transfer joining the team next semester, who may prove to be our best player next year.

Figures you'd take short cuts! We need coaches that can build Quiz Bowlers from their Freshman year! How many 4 or 5 star Quiz recruits have we landed? With the resources we put behind Quiz Bowling we should be THE destination for Christian Quizzers!

We do have 6 National Merit Finalists on our Quiz Bowl team receiving a full academic scholarship for particiapating in our Honors Program. And we have recruited at least one more National Merit Finalist to join us next year on the team, or as least we have a verbal commitment from him.

Lib is usually right, but his big brother is already on the team, and it's a pretty competitive family, so little brother wants to show big brother how it's done. They are both home schooled National Merit Finalists.

Maybe I need to get JB to show me how to do LOI for Quiz Bowlers.

We're approaching the day where homeschooled National Merit Finalists may overtake public school kids. The lowest common denominator principle of public education today doesn't lend itself to fostering excellence.

Sly, right now, LU has 38 National Merit Finalists on full academic scholarship in the Honors Program, and many of them are home schooled students. Study

But if they are homeschooled aren't they really only competing against the other people at home? I'm pretty sure I could win if that was the case! Especially if they were an only child!

Well I'm sure some of them come from larger homes!

For those of you who don't know, National Merit Finalists are chosen based on their PSATs taken their junior year in high school, and these are the top half of the top 1% academically.
