I may be missing someone but looking at the 2011 rooster, taking away the graduating seniors and TE's, I count 11 Offensive Linemen; adding this years recruit (A. Campbell) makes a total of 12 which basically makes us two deep. I was somewhat surprised that we didn't land more O-Linemen and am wondering if and how Coach Gill and company are/may going to "juggle" this? Just curious but any thoughts??

That was my only complant really from this first class as well. I'm not sure what the plan is there, but it does seem pretty thin for depth.

I just counted 12, plus the top notch recruit, to get to 13. A walk on puts you at 14. That seems like a good number with the FCS scholarship limits. I'm sure several guys can play multiple positions, there's a lot of youth, and it sets up next year as the time to bring in a new wave of OL.

Here's the list of the returning linemen with their class designation for next season:

54 Kevin Widener R-Sophomore
56 Greg Ray R-Sophomore
64 Richard Wright R-Junior
66 DJ Sellman R-Senior
67 Trevor Jenkins Sophomore
68 Jay Weatherington Senior
72 Stan Herring R-Senior
73 Mitch Hanson R-Sophomore
74 Andre Mondor R-Sophomore
76 Grant Jones Sophomore
77 Malcolm Boyd Senior
78 Aaron Lundy R-Senior

I could see maybe wanting 1 more recruit this year, but it looks like Liberty recruits OL in waves every 2 years or so (or at least the redshirting has put them in the position of having waves of OL in one eligibility class). 5 seniors and 6 sophomores next year is odd. I'm assuming that Gill would want that senior class to go, and lead into the next recruiting cycle with 1 senior, 6 juniors, 1 sophomore (Brown), maybe a redshirt freshman or two from walk-ons, and recruit the next batch of OL to come behind that big group of 6 that includes Jones.

Of course, if the FBS news comes in April, then they can really go crazy with recruiting for next year and start aiming for having a legitimate 3 deep at every spot.

I know Wright has practiced a little with the lineman but I think we will need to be pretty hurt at OL for him to become considered. He's mainly just longsnapper now.

And a darn good one at that.

Roger Bryan #69 isn't listed. He was a walk-on in the fall along with another guy but I cannot remember his name.

Despite the slight lack of numbers, the quality of recruit/rumored recruit is getting much better on the OL. If we somehow land Pfaff in the next class that will give us three straight years of at least one highly rated prospect. Jones and Campbell both had 3 star ratings from Rivals, and if the early accolades for Pfaff are any indication, it appears that he could be even more highly rated. I'll be perfectly happy with quality over quantity until we make the FBS move.
