It's hard to do b/c the BSC enters all of its team, while other regional conferences (SoCon, MEAC) only schedule 3 or 4 teams. I expected to see a lot of logical Big South vs ASun matchups, but apparently the ASun doesn't participate.

I should be at the Winthrop vs. ASU game. App St. is a very fiery team this season. They remind me of last years LU team a little bit. They have had their ups and downs but seem to be on a roll recently. Going to be a tough game from Winthrop!

While there is much to be disappointed about with this year's LU team, we need to remember that these boys are really trying to play their best ball every game! I can see their passion all the way from Boone and that keeps me watching every week!

Go Flames!

Another example of what our program's image is outside of the FF political bubble to some how bolsters the perception. In what is the "Battle of the Bottom" Radford gets an 0-21 Binghamton team and we get the tenth place team in the MEAC. Hello do we really care to see reality? :dontgetit

They match up teams based on their RPI. Ours is in the 300s. Of course we're going to get a bad team. We knew that. That's why you didn't see one Liberty fan post about bracketbusters and the potential matchup.

Last year we had about 40 posts prior to the announcement of the bracketbuster matchups because we knew we would get a good team. And we did.

Morgan State came to Longwood when I was a junior in college. Their coach is Todd Bozeman. If you remember the name its probably from when he coached Cal when Jason Kidd was there. At Cal he got a NCAA ban fro some crazy recruiting violations and some other stuff. So when LU played them the whole student section was harping on the dude all day. The worst part for Bozeman was that Longwood beat Morgan State at the buzzer in OT (Morgan St was actually pretty decent that year, I believe they won the MEAC).

Anyways... after the game Morgan State went to Mulligans, a local bar, to pick up an order they placed before the game. Bozeman wanted 40 cheesesteaks and Mulligans told him they didn't have the capacity and gave him some ham sandwiches instead. Bozeman said "I don't want no F'ing HAM SANDWICHES", pushed down the waitress, took his sandwiches on the bus and left Farmville. About 5 minutes later the Farmville PoPo pulled over the whole Morgan State bus on 460 and charged Bozeman with abuse.

Also, just this year Bozeman was accused of hitting one of his players and got like a 3 game suspension. How this dude still has a job is beyond me. Moral of the story? errrr... I guess there isn't one...but if you want to see a crazy coach face Liberty then head up to Baltimore in a couple of weeks.

There is something that makes me laugh when TorC asks if we really care to see reality.

Yes Bball is not good this year, I don't think anyone argues that. Maybe there are reasons, maybe there are excuses, maybe it is some of both, but it is not good.

The truth, however, is that Carr & Assoc have said Liberty is the best positioned Div 1-FCS to move to Div-1 FBS. Most of that credit has to go to the AD. So my question is, are TorC and his ilk ready to live in a world 5 years removed from the release of RD after losing three straight tournament games in the Big South and come up with another reason this is a bad AD? Acknowledging releasing RD was at least a reasonable decission, even if you disagree, would move this board forward five years.

Keep living in your fantasy world.

Athletics has a greater image because of one thing and one thing only $$$$. That did not come from AD but JIFjr. period!! So take off the rose colored glasses and get something done that means something in competition. Carr and Assoc get paid $$$$ to say good things. ESPN Bracketbusters gives you a reality check on the real opinion of our performance. Lynchburg Circuit Court gives you the reality of who we put in uniform. hello

On the Lynchburg City Court jab, I would remove that from the AD discussion and read what the JLFJR posted on the discussion board. It was the coach and coach alone that is responsible for the decission because JLFJR didn't want to micromanage. That means the AD would not be allowed to micromanage that decission as well because it would undermine the coach. By the way, acknowledging this reasoning does not mean I agree because I don't. I think on this public a matter JLFJR should have stepped in because the reputation went beyond sports. (What a concept, disagree but acknowledge reasonalble people can have different opinions)

Money is the driver, but I have found that people invest in what they trust in. It is very naive to think people would give thousands of dollars to a program where they did not respect or trust the AD. If there was no confidence in JB there would be back room manuvering to get him out. Rumor has that has happened to a coach at LU in the past.

AS always the truth lies somewhere in the middle. At this point I don't even believe you believe half the crap you say. I think you just post and wait for the hail storm to follow. If that is not that case and you truly believe everything you type then I just feel bad for you.

Is JB perfect? Of course not but he is far from the demon you make him out to be. Have you ever tried to look at anything objectively about this or is it impossible for you to do so because you took it personally when your friend didn't have his contract renewed.

I am pretty sure RD is over it, why can't you be over it?

I am very objective. LU has gone backwards with JB in on the field performance in major programs. He has by FAR the greatest resources in the BSC. HIS hires have not even taken us to the top of BSC. He ethics are questionable at BEST. Don"t blame the Chancellor because his AD didn't have enough brass to sit a player charge with cocaine possession it is not Rocco's athletic department!

Get pass the smooth hollow promises and gel....we have tread water and moved down steam by the current of NCAA D1 competition for 5+ years, yet so many are consumed by the lure of production they have lost perspective on competition. I will be over it when we stop throwing $$$ to an AD that majors on image spin.

Ask yourself this ToC...say we get rid of JB as you have proposed ad nauseum...what about the next guy? What if he doesnt get it done either? You calling for his ouster too? What about the guy after that? See how silly you sound...?

How has the athletic dept as a whole gone backwards? Men's BB? Yes, I believe it has. The athletic dept as a whole?? That is pushing it! The Asa thing was a mistake from the top on down. Not everything can be pinned on one man alone but since your feelings are still hurt you can't possibly see things objectivity.

I have said to you over and over again that I am not the biggest JB supporter but you just go over the top with it. Much like there are many on here that go over the top the other way like BJ, haha.

Stay on his train and see where it leads you too. You will feel fine if you only believe the self promotion of spin. But when the reality of where we are comes to light it will shine on the deception.

We are in it real deep. But hey we have only spent 12 million+ in 5 years to get here in MBB. That probably doesn't include the television production cost. And now we broadcast road games. It is deep alright.

TC once again completely ignores a well rounded argument. I don't even know why I try anymore.

He simply sees what he wants on this board

There isn't any reason to argue with him. Quit feeding the trolls and they'll go away.
